AB  - The effects of utilization of high protein feedstuff of plant origin- Ekofish meal, domestic product, in nutrition of lactating sows and suckling piglets were investigated. Considering our previous positive experiences in the use of similar feedstuffs in nutrition of weaned piglets and fattening pigs also the application of Ekofish meal as a substitute of fish meal in pig nutrition, objective of this paper was to evaluate the effects of the utilization of Ekofish meal in iso-energy and iso-nitrogen diets for lactating sows and suckling piglets. Investigated feedstuff was produced according to specific technology in production plant of the company Bankom in Serbia. Research was carried out on experimental pig farm of the Institute for Animal Husbandry, Belgrade-Zemun, Serbia. Obtained results have shown that, the introduction of investigated feedstuff had a positive effects expressed through shorter service period by 2.4 feeding days, better gain by 4.52% in suckling piglets, increased the intake of pre-starter by 1.0 kg/litter in piglets during creep feeding. In general, the obtained results have shown that utilization of Ekofish meal as high protein feedstuff can be recommended in nutrition of sows and piglets. AB  - Ispitivani su efekti korišćenja Ekofiš meal-a, biljnog visokoproteinskog hraniva domaćeg porekla u ishrani krmača u laktaciji i prasadi na sisi. Imajući u vidu naša ranija pozitivna iskustva pri korišćenju sličnog hraniva u ishrani odbijene prasadi i svinja u tovu, kao i pozitivna iskustva o primeni Ekofiš meal-a kao supstituenta ribljeg brašna u ishrani svinja, cilj ovoga rada je bio da se oceni mogućnost njegovog korišćenja u smešama ujednačenim na sadržaj energije i sirovih proteina kod krmača u laktaciji i prasadi na sisi. Ispitivano hranivo je proizvedeno po posebnoj tehnologiji u proizvodnim pogonima kompanije Bankom u Srbiji. Istraživanja su izvedena na Eksperimentalnoj farmi svinja u Institutu za stočarstvo, Beograd-Zemun. Dobijeni rezultati su pokazali da je uvođenje ispitivanog hraniva imalo pozitivne efekte izražene kraćim servis periodom za 2,4 hranidbena dana, za 4,52% boljim prirastom kod prasadi na sisi i povećanom konzumacijom predstartera za 1,0 kg/leglo kod prasadi na sisi. U celini, dobijeni rezultati su pokazali da se korišćenje Ekofiš meal-a može preporučiti u ishrani krmača u laktaciji i prasadi na sisi.

The effects of the introduction of betafine on the slaughter results of the fattening pigs

AB  - Effects of the use of additive Betafine on the slaughter results of the fattening pigs were investigated. Obtained results showed that the introduction of Betafine in the concentration of 0.1% in the diets had the effect on the length of carcasses and dressing percentage of the pigs. The nutrition of pigs with diets based on the Betafine resulted in increased meat content by 1.3% in the carcasses. No positive effect of the use of investigated additive on the share of the main parts in pig carcasses was established. Positive effect of the introduction of Batafine showed the increase of the meat content in the the blade stick with neck and in the area of Longissimus dorsi (MLD). Generally we recommend the use of additive Betafine in the nutrition of fattening pigs, because it has showed positive effects on meatiness and the meat content in the area of Muscullus longissimus dorsi.
AB  - Istraživani su efekti korišćenja aditiva Betafina na klanične rezultate kod svinja u tovu. Dobijeni rezultati su pokazali da je uvoĐenje Betafina u koncentraciji od 0,1% u obrocima imalo efekte na dužine polutki i randmane svinja. Ishrana svinja smešom zasnovanom na Betafinu je dovela do povećanja mesnatosti, za 1,3%, u polutkama. Nije bilo bitnih efekata korišćenja ispitivanog aditiva na udeo osnovnih delova u polutkama svinja. Pozitivan efekat uključivanja betafina je bio izražen povećanjem sadržaja mesa u podplećki sa vratom i u velikom leđnom mišiću (MLD-u).

The effect of age of fatteners at slaughtering on slaughter values of Swedish landrace pigs

AB  - In order to investigate the effect of age of fatteners at slaughtering on quality of carcass sides, investigation in 115 fatteners of Swedish Landrace breed were carried out. Three groups of animals of different age were formed with different number of fatteners in the group, equal in regard to sex of animals which all come for same farm in Serbia. Highly significant (**P (lt) 0,01) effect of age of fatteners at slaughtering on quality of carcass sides was established. Considering the negative sign with the coefficient b, we can conclude that the negative regression of age on quality of carcass sides was observed. The oldest fatteners (>260 days) had the lightest carcass sides (65,218 kg), the lowest gain per day of life (237,14 days) and the lowest share of meat in sides (35,369%) which has no economical justification. Therefore, justification for prolonged fattening of pigs of investigated genotype needs to be reconsidered considering different quality of carcass sides of certain age groups.
AB  - U cilju utvrđivanja uticaja starosti tovljenika pri klanju na kvalitet polutki, izvršena su ispitivanja na 115 tovljenika rase švedski landras. Formirane su tri starosne grupe, sa različitim brojem tovljenika u grupi, izjednačene po polu, poreklom sa jedne farme u Srbiji. Po završetku ispitivanja, grla su žrtvovana sa prosečnom starošću od 233,983 dana i prosečne težine polutki 73,5994 kg. Ustanovljen je visoko značajan (P (lt) 0,01) uticaj starosti tovljenika pri klanju na kvalitet polutki. Pošto je negativan predznak uz koeficijent b, može se govoriti o jednoj negativnoj regresiji starosti na kvalitet polutki. Najstariji tovljenici (>260 dana) imali su najlakše polutke (65,218 kg), sa najnižim prirastom po danu života (237,14 dana) i najnižim udelom mesa u polutkama (35,369%) što nema svoju ekonomsku opravdanost.

In general, obtained results have shown that use of high protein plant feed can be recommended in nutrition of sows, suckling and weaned piglets.
AB  - Ispitivani su efekti korišćenja visokoproteinskog hraniva biljnog porekla - Ekofish meal u ishrani krmača u laktaciji, prasadi na sisi i u odgoju. Imajući u vidu naša ranija pozitivna iskustva o korišćenju sličnog hraniva u ishrani odbijene prasadi i svinja u tovu, cilj ovoga rada je bio da se ocene efekti korišćenja visokoproteinskog hraniva zasnovanog na biljnim izvorima proteina u obrocima krmača u laktaciji, prasadi na sisi, i u odgoju. Ispitivano hranivo je proizvedeno po određenoj tehnologiji u pogonima kompanije Bankom u Srbiji. Istraživanja su izvedena na eksperimentalnoj farmi svinja Instituta za stočarstvo, Beograd-Zemun u Srbiji. Dobijeni rezultati su pokazali da je u izonitrogenim smešama uvođenje ispitivanog hraniva umesto ribljeg brašna imalo pozitivne efekte izražene za 6,18% manjim gubicima telesne mase krmača tokom laktacije, za 1,6 dana kraćim servis periodom, skoro istim prirastom (razlika 2 grama) kod prasadi na sisi, povećanom potrošnjom predstartera za 1,1 kg/leglo kod prasadi tokom prihranjivanja, sličnim ali za 4,73% jeftinijim prirastom uz sličnu konverziju hrane kod prasadi u odgoju. U celini dobijeni rezultati su pokazali da se preporučuje korišćenje biljnog visokoproteinskog hraniva u ishrani krmača, prasadi na sisi i u odgoju.

Imajući u vidu naša ranija pozitivna iskustva o korišćenju sličnog hraniva u ishrani odbijene prasadi i svinja u tovu, cilj ovoga rada je bio da se ocene efekti korišćenja visokoproteinskog hraniva zasnovanog na biljnim izvorima proteina u obrocima krmača u laktaciji, prasadi na sisi, i u odgoju. Ispitivano hranivo je proizvedeno po određenoj tehnologiji u pogonima kompanije Bankom u Srbiji. Istraživanja su izvedena na eksperimentalnoj farmi svinja Instituta za stočarstvo, Beograd-Zemun u Srbiji. Dobijeni rezultati su pokazali da je u izonitrogenim smešama uvođenje ispitivanog hraniva umesto ribljeg brašna imalo pozitivne efekte izražene za 6,18% manjim gubicima telesne mase krmača tokom laktacije, za 1,6 dana kraćim servis periodom, skoro istim prirastom (razlika 2 grama) kod prasadi na sisi, povećanom potrošnjom predstartera za 1,1 kg/leglo kod prasadi tokom prihranjivanja, sličnim ali za 4,73% jeftinijim prirastom uz sličnu konverziju hrane kod prasadi u odgoju. U celini dobijeni rezultati su pokazali da se preporučuje korišćenje biljnog visokoproteinskog hraniva u ishrani krmača, prasadi na sisi i u odgoju.",

Effect of genotype and order of farrowing on variation of fertility traits in pigs

AB  - Investigations were carried out in single pig herd. It included 9 genotypes of sows (4 breeds and 5 groups of crosses of different crossing combinations) and 25.040 of their litters. Traits such as size of litter of Swedish Landrace sows (18.511 litters) and crosses of Fl generation (4651 litters) obtained by crossing of Swedish Landrace (SL) sows and boars of Large White breed (LW) were especially investigated. Second part of the investigation related to effect of sire (SL, LW and D) and dam breed (SL and SLxLW) on average demonstration and variability of number of live born piglets in first seven farrowings. Standard mathematical-statistical methods were applied in order to evaluate average demonstration and variability of the trait litter size. Effect of parent genotype and order of farrowing on variability of traits was evaluated using the variance analysis. Testing of differences in average values was carried out using t-test. Results of the variance analysis (table 2) show that sow genotype and order of farrowing had highly significant effect (P (lt)  0,01) on investigated traits. In investigated herd and between investigated sow-genotypes average number of live born piglets (from 8.50 to 10,37), still born piglets (from 0,30 to 0,79) and reared piglets (from 6,75 to 8,44). Only the difference of average values for number of still born piglets between sows SL and SLxLW had no statistical significance. Investigation of the effect of dam and sire breed on average demonstration and variability of number of live born piglets per farrwoings (table 4) indicates that sows of SL breed mated with boars of LW breed produced more liveborn piglets compared to sows of SL breed mated with SL boars in all farrowings (from +0,30 to +0,69 piglets). These sows, from fourth to seventh farrowing farrowed more than 11 live piglets, which means that individual heterosis effect was displayed (3 to 7%). Mating of sow crosses of F1 generation (SLxLW) with boars of Durroc breed caused no increase of number of live born piglets in litter compared to rearing in pure breed (except in 3rd farrowing) or two breed crossing.
AB  - U cilju utvrđivanja varijabilnosti nekih osobina plodnosti kod različitih genotipova i prašenja po redu izvršena su ispitivanja na 25.040 legala. Dobijeni rezultati pokazuju da su genotip krmača i prašenje po redu (starost krmača) uticali (P (lt) 0,01) na variranje broja živorođene, mrtvorođene i odgajene prasadi. Krmače rase švedski landras oprasile su i odgajile prosečno više prasadi od krmača F1 generacije bez obzira na genotip nerasta. Međutim krmače rase ŠL parene sa nerastovima rase VJ proizvele su veći broj živorođene prasadi od krmača ŠL parenih sa nerastovima ŠL u svim prašenjima (od 0,30 do 0,69 prasadi). Parenjem krmača meleza F1 generacije (ŠLxVJ) i nerastova rase durok (D) nije postignuto povećanje broja žive prasadi u leglu u poređenju sa odgajivanjem u čistoj rasi i dvorasnim ukrštanjem.

AB  - The object of this research-developmental project is the production of quality pig halves. By the application of various methods of selection and breeding along with optimal conditions of nutrition, care and keeping carcass quality of breeding animals and fatteners shall be improved. Another aim of the project is the improvement of health state and performance of pigs by securing optimal microclimate factors, keeping conditions and housing system. The economical valorization of quality pig halves shall also be established. The research has been carried out in three breeding stocks (Breeding stock 1 - PKB "IMES" AD, Padinska Skela; Breeding stock 2 - DP "Stari Tamiš", Pančevo; Breeding stock 3 - Institute for Animal Husbandry also one of parties who realize the project) who are all the users of the research results. In the second year of research we worked on the improvement of reproductive traits of breeding pigs as well as fattening and slaughter traits of three-race and four-race crossing breeds, optimal nutrition, possible use of probiotics in the nutrition of piglets and fatteners, preventing of digestive disorders by use of various probiotic populations, establishing microclimate factors and economical indicators in pig production. In the first two research years the results were published in leading scientific journals of national importance, and reported at the international and national scientific meetings. The study displays the published results of the project in question.

AB  - Considering that our previous research has indicated some positive effects of probiotics used in nutrition of sows and suckling piglets, as well as piglets in rearing, investigation designed in this case had the objective to investigate the effect of introduction of probiotic Paciflora-C-10, based on Bacillus spp C.I.P. 5832 in nutrition of fattening pigs. Investigations were carried out on Experimental pig farm of the Institute for Animal Husbandry, Belgrade-Zemun. Crietria for evaluation of obtained results were production performance, degree of use of nutritious substances slaughter parameters and economical analysis determined as price of gain of 1 kg of body mass. It was established that introduction of probiotics has induced the increase of body mass gain by 3,88%, feed conversion by 2,81% degree of utilization of dry and organic matter as well as crude proteina in mixtures. Also, in regard to slaughter traits, it was established that use of probiotic had positive effect on dressing percentage. No effect on food consumption, meatiness in warm carcasses or price of body mass gain was determined on experimental animals.
AB  - Rezultati ispitivanja nutritivne vrednosti probiotika zasnovanog na Bacillus spp. u ishrani svinja u tovu pokazali su da je ispitivani probiotik imao pozitivne efekte na prirast, konverziju hrane, iskorišćavanje suve, organske materije i proteina kao i na randman. Nije utvrđen uticaj probiotika na konzumaciju hrane, mesnatost u polutkama svinja i cenu prirasta kod životinja u eksperimentu.

AB  - The effect of different genotypes, sires and season on age at slaughtering mass of warm carcass sides, fat thickness measured on three points (withers back, rump) and percentage of meat in warm carcass sides of average mass of 74,17kg using Yugoslav standard method was investigated in this paper. Results obtained show that investigated traits had no variation between pigs of different genotype (P>0,05). Sires effected variation of age at slaughtering, fat thickness (withers, back, rump, back + rump) and percentage of meat in warm carcass sides of offspring (P (lt) 0,01). Slaughter season effected fat thickness measured on withers (P (lt) 0,01) and age at slaughtering (P (lt) 0,05). Age, fat thickness and percentage of meat depended on the mass of warm carcass sides. Evaluated heritability coefficients for investigated traits were in interval of medium to high.
AB  - U ovom radu ispitivan je uticaj različitih genotipova, očeva i sezone na uzrast pri klanju, masu toplih polutki, debljinu slanine merene na tri mesta ( greben, sredina leđa i krsta) i procenat mesa u toplim polutkama prosečne mase 74,17 kg, primenom Jugoslovenskog standarda. Rezultati koji su dobijeni pokazuju da ispitivane osobine nisu varirale između grla različitih genotipova (P>0,05). Očevi su uticali na variranje uzrasta pri klanju, debljinu slanine ( greben, sredina leđa, krsta, leđa + krsta) i na procenat mesa u toplim polutkama potomaka ( P (lt) 0,01). Sezona klanja uticala je na debljinu slanine izmerenu na grebenu ( P (lt) 0,01) i na uzrast pri klanju ( P (lt) 0,05). Uzrast, debljine slanine i procenat mesa zavisili su od mase toplih polutki. Ocenjeni koeficijenti heritabiliteta za ispitivane osobine su bili u intervalu od srednjih do visokih.

The effect of lactic acid additive on the quality and chemical composition of meadow grass silage

AB  - In the experiment, forage from the 1st cut of meadow grasses mown at the heading stage of dominant grasses was ensiled. The control silages were made from fresh forage (dry matter 223.5 g×kg-1) and wilted forage (dry matter 351.9 g×kg-1). The experimental silages were made from fresh forages supplemented with a 5% water solution of lactic acid (0.5 and 0.7 l×100 kg-1 of forage) and 8% water solution of lactic acid (0.4 and 0.6 l×100 kg-1 of forage). The highest contents of crude protein, water-soluble carbohydrates and energy were found in silages supplemented with 5% lactic acid applied at 0.7 l×100 kg-1 of forage and in silages supplemented with 8% lactic acid applied at 0.6 l×100 kg-1 of forage. The above silage variants were also characterized by the lowest content of NH3-N in total-N, butyric acid and acetic acid, as well as the highest contents of lactic acid and the best indicators of fermentation quality. No important differences were found between silages made from wilted forage and silages made with lactic acid supplement.
AB  - U istraživanjima korišćena mlečna kiselina kao dodatak silaži od smeše livadskih trava ( livadski vijuk, engleski ljulj i italijanski ljulj ukupno čine 85%, bele deteline 11% i ostalih krmnih vrsta 4%) se pokazala kao dobar hemijski preparat. Spravljena silaža sa ovim dodatkom naročito 5% dodate mlečne kiseline sa 0,7 l x 100 kg-1 mase i 8% mlečne kiseline dodavane 0,6 l x 100 kg-1 mase se karakterisala najvišim sadržajem sirovih proteina ugljenih hidrata rastvorljivih u vodi i energijom. Dodatak 8% mlečne kiseline u količini 0,6 l x 100 kg-1 mase je bilo najefikasnije u ograničavanju razlaganja proteina i pokazalo se kao povoljan inhibitor fermentiranja buterne i sirćetne kiseline u siliranoj biomasi smeše livadskih trava. U našem istraživanju nisu uočene značajne razlike između silaža spravljanih od provenute mase i silaže spravljane od sveže pokošene mase dopunjavane mlečnom kiselinom u pogledu sadržaja sirovih proteina energije kao i pokazatelja kvaliteta fermentacije. Iz svega navedenog zaključuje se da, u povoljnim atmosferskim uslovima, provenuta pokošena masa pre siliranja nastavlja da zadržava visok kvalitet silaže. Tamo gde nije moguće provenjavanje smeše livadskih trava ili gajenih trava preporučuje se da se silira masa sa dodatkom mlečne kiseline, pri čemu se dobijena silaža odlikuje niskim gubicima proteina i ugljenih hidrata rastvorljivih u vodi i visokim kvalitetom fermentacije silirane biomase.

Evaluation of the quality level of carcass from the aspect of proportion of major carcass parts in pork carcass sides

AB  - Results of the investigation carried out on pork carcasses (n = 20), deriving from Large Yorkshire pigs, are presented in this paper. Investigation began with average body mass of pigs of approximately 25 kg and ended with average body mass of 100 kg. Trial animals received uniquediet mixture (content of crude protein 17,4%, lysine content 0,9%, cellulose content 4,9%). Following traits were determined: mass of warm carcass sides at slaughtering, fat thickness between 13th and 14th rib and on vertebrae where Gluteus medius pars piriformis most penetrates the fat tissue. After cooling of carcass sides during 24 hour period on temperature of 4°C, lateral section was cut between 13lh and 14th rib in order to determine section surface of the Musculus longissiums dorsi (MLD) and surrounding fat tissue. Based on MLD section and surrounding fat tissue the meat-fat ration on the back part of carcass was calculated. Dissection of right carcass side was done according to the method of WENINGER et al. (Petričević, 1985). Following quantitativi traits are presented: pH1 and pH2 values determined by using the digital pH-meter 45 minutes post mortem and 24 hours subsequent to slaughtering, respectively. Average weight of warm carcass side was 41,7 kg. Major parameters for dissection are fat thickness (22,35 - 23,35 mm). MLD area was 36,40 cm2. In regard to the share of major parts of carcass sides, extremely high contribution of back part (8,20 kg or 19,62%) whereas the determined contribution of ham in carcass side was 10,68 kg or 25,5%. Contribution of muscle tissue in certain carcass parts varied. For instance, the highest relative share of muscle tissue was determined in ham and shoulder 71,91% and 71,67%, respectively, followed by neek, 62,86%, whereas in other major carcass parts value of aporox 58% was determined. Total content of muscle tissue in carcass side was 58,41%. Majority of quality parameters were within the normal values.
AB  - U radu su prikazani rezultati količine mesa u polutkama, dobijenim disekcijom polutki po metodi WENINGER (Petričević, 1985). Površina MLD. je 36,40 cm2, a sadržaj mišićnog tkiva u polutci je bio 58,41%. Konformacija trupa je specifična, gde naročito treba istaći visok udeo leđnog dela (19,62%) i udeo šunke (25,50%). Najveći udeo mišićnog tkiva bio je u šunki i plećki (71,91 i 71,67%). Većina pokazatelja kvaliteta mišićnog tkiva kretala se u normalnim granicama.

abstract = "Results of the investigation carried out on pork carcasses (n = 20), deriving from Large Yorkshire pigs, are presented in this paper. Investigation began with average body mass of pigs of approximately 25 kg and ended with average body mass of 100 kg. Trial animals received uniquediet mixture (content of crude protein 17,4%, lysine content 0,9%, cellulose content 4,9%). Following traits were determined: mass of warm carcass sides at slaughtering, fat thickness between 13th and 14th rib and on vertebrae where Gluteus medius pars piriformis most penetrates the fat tissue. Effect of lactic acid bacterial inoculant with enzyme and rolled barley additive on the chemical composition and protein degradation of alfalfa silage

AB  - In the experiment, forage (dry matter 216.3 g.kg-1) from the 1st cut of alfalfa (Medicago, sativa L.) cv, Radius, mown at the early flowering stage, was ensiled. Alfalfa was ensiled without inoculants; with lactic acid bacteria and enzyme inoculants; with rolled barley; or with rolled barley and lactic acid bacteria and enzyme inoculants. Rolled barley was added in amounts of 50,100, 150 and 200 g.kg-1 of alfalfa forage, The bacterial acid enzyme inoculants (Bactozym) contained cultures of Lacto bacillus casein, Enterococcus faecium M74 and Pediococcus sp. (a total of 1 5 x 109 CPU in Ig of friable preparation) in the powdered part and the cellulase-hemicellulase complex (25000 n cat. in 1ml) and glucose-oxidase (4000 n cat. in 1ml) in the liquid part. The inoculants was used in a water solution in the amount of 10mg bacterial component and 0,2 ml enzymatic component / kg-1 alfalfa forage. The supplement of only rolled barley to alfalfa forage was found to have no significant effect on improving the processes of proteolysis and deamination in this type of silages, compared to alfalfa silages made with bacterial and enzyme inoculants. Significantly lower crude protein and WSC losses in the fermentation process, increased intensity of lactic acid fermentation, the lack of propionic and butyric acid fermentation, and significantly reduced processes of protein degradation were found in alfalfa-rolled barley silages made with the addition of lactic acid bacteria and enzyme inoculants.
AB  - U ovom ogledu, silirana je stočna hrana (suva materija 216.3 g.kg-1) koja potiče od 1. otkosa lucerke (Medicago, sativa L.) cv, Radius, košene u ranom stadijumu cvetanja. Lucerka je silirana bez inokulanata; sa bakterijama mlečne kiseline i enzimskim inokulantom; sa gnječenim ječmom; ili sa gnječenim ječmom i bakterijom mlečne kiseline i enzimskim inokulantom. Gnječeni ječam je dodavan u količinama od 50, 100, 150 200 g.kg-1 stočne hrane od lucerke. Bakterijski enzimski inokulant (Bactozym) koji je sadržavao sledeće kulture Lacto bacillus casei ,Enterococcus faecium M74 i Pediococcus sp. ( ukupno 15 x IO9 CFU u Ig preparat koji se lako pretvara u prah) u prahu i kompleks celulaza-hemicelulaza (25000 n cat. u l ml) i glukoza-oksidaza (4000 n cat u Iml) u tečnom delu. Inokulant je korišćen u vodenom rastvoru u količini od 10mg bakterijske komponente i 0.2ml enzimske komponente / kg-1 lucerke. Dodavanje samo gnječenog ječma lucerkinom krmivu nije imalo značajnog efekta na poboljšanje procesa proteoloze i deaminacije u ovoj vrsti silaže, u poređenju sa silažama od lucerke koje su pravljene uz pomoć bakterijskih i enzimskih inokulanata. Signifikantno manje sirovog proteina kao i gubici WSC-a u procesu fermentacije, povećan intenzitet fermentacije mlečne kiseline, nedostatak fermentacije propionske i buterne kiseline, i znatno redukovani proces degradacije proteina su pronađeni u silaži od lucerke i gnječenog ječma uz dodatak bakterije mlečne kiseline i enzimskog inokulanta.
