AB - The research was conducted on 175 cows of the Holstein-Friesian breed
that were selected as bull dams and achieved 400 lactations.
Animals are reared on 5 farms of the "Belgrade" Agricultural Corporation. Bull
dams are the offspring of 32 bulls calved between 2007 and 2014. The research
included the following characteristics of milk yield in standard lactation (305
days): milk yield (kg), milk fat yield (kg), milk fat content (%), protein yield (kg),
protein content (%). The variability of traits and the influence of factors (farm,
lactation in order, season and year of calving, bull-sire) were evaluated by the
method of least squares using the GLM (General Linear Model) procedure in the
SAS software package. The average milk yield of bull dams is 9617.11 kg, with
3.44% milk fat and 3.21% protein. The average yield of milk fat and protein is
329.56 kg and 308.65 kg, respectively. The largest positive deviation of milk yield
from the general average is 363.64 kg, while the largest negative deviation is -
1021.36. The largest negative deviation of milk fat yield and protein yield is -21.74
kg and -36.09 kg, respectively. The largest positive deviation of milk fat yield is
18.35 kg and protein yield is 9.46 kg. The influence of the farm is present in the
variability of all the observed traits of milk production except milk yield. Lactation
in turn had a statistical effect (p<0.05) on all traits included in the research, except
for protein content. The influence of the calving season is present in the variability
of milk yield and protein yield, while it had no effect on the other traits included in
the research. Calving year statistically (p<0.05) had a significant effect on the
variability of all observed milk yield traits. The sire bull influenced the phenotypic
expression of milk yield traits, while his influence on the variability of milk fat and
protein content was not significant. The results of the research indicate that the
established variability of milk yield traits in the population of the Holstein-Friesian
breed provides enough room for their further improvement through selection.

AB - Wheat is the most important staple food in the world and the main source of carbohydrates, fibre,
proteins, vitamins, minerals and phytochemicals for human consumption. The nutrients from wheat kernels
can also be used as livestock feed. Fusarium head blight (FHB), caused by fungal species of the Fusarium
genus, is one of the most important wheat diseases worldwide. The lack of FHB management strategies
results in significant economic losses in yield and quality of wheat kernels. In this study, the influence of
growing season and wheat cultivar on some FHB and yield component traits, as well as on the trichothecene
mycotoxin deoxynivalenol (DON) levels during the harvest period in 2014 and 2015, was investigated.
Significant influence of growing season (year) and wheat cultivar on disease (FHB index – FHBI, incidence
of Fusarium-damaged kernels – FDK and levels of DON) and yield parameters (spike weight – SW, kernel
weight per spike – KWS, and 100-kernel weight) was found. FHBI, FDK, and DON were higher in 2014,
while SW, KWS, and 100-kernel weight were lower in 2014 than in 2015. The mid-early wheat cultivar
Simonida had lower FHBI, FDK, and levels of DON and significantly higher SW, KWS, and 100-kernel
weight than the mid-late cultivar NS 40S. There was a significant effect of year × cultivar interaction on
FHBI, FDK and 100-kernel weight.

AB - Contact with a breeder is extremely important for the welfare of calves in the first month of life.
In the intensive way of raising cattle, it is increasingly difficult to establish a good relationship
between breeders and animals. The authors defined 12 criteria for assessing animal welfare,
which they classify into four groups, one of which is good behaviour in terms of social and other
forms of behaviour and a good human-animal relationship. This implies the absence of fear
because fear is an important animal welfare problem. The attitude of farmers towards calves in
the first month of life was examined on two farms with an intensive production system. The
relationship of humanstocalves was assessed using the test of approach and touch. Farmers
competence assessments on the surveyed farms were satisfactory. It is characteristic of both
farms that breeders who handle calves do not have a formal education in the field in which they
work. Accordingly, their knowledge and skills are based on many years of work experience. The
approach and touch test indicated a positive relationship between breeders and calves. The
largest number of calves allowed approaching 1 or 2 steps, and a significant number also allowed
touch, while a negligible number of calves avoided eye contact, as the most unfavourable type of
contact.

AB - The objective of this research was to study phenotypic expression and factors that can affect
milk yield traits in the population of Simmental cattle breed in the Republic of Serbia. The
research was conducted on a set of data that included records on the production and origin of
Simmental breed cows displayed both in regional and municipal exhibitions in the territory of
the Republic of Serbia in the period from 2004 to 2017. A final data set included records on
production and origin of 1176 Simmental breed cows. The animals were raised in the area
covering 9 regions of the Republic of Serbia. The research included most important milk
yield traits in standard lactation: milk yield, milk fat content, milk fat yield, yield of 4% fat corrected milk (4%FCM). An average milk yield in studied population accounted for
5.520±919 kg, milk fat content 3.94±0.11%, milk fat yield 218±38 kg, while the yield of 4%
fat-corrected milk accounted for 5.474±933 kg. It was determined that region, age and
lactation had a very high statistically significant effect on studied traits while the age of cows
had no statistical effect.

AB - This paper describes the present state of goat production in
Central Serbia, discussing the challenges and future prospects for this livestock
system. Number of goats in the country is decreasing and it has been so throughout
the years now. Production systems in goat sector in Serbia are predominately
extensive or semi-intensive, especially in hilly-mountainous areas and goats are
kept in small herds. The majority of goats raised in Central Serbia region are of
French Alpine breed, which takes the most dominant place in breed structure. In
addition to French Alpine breed, there are also Saanen, Balkan and Domestic white
goats. Production of goats in Serbia is directed towards milk-meat, but primarily
milk and there are no typical meat (fattening) breeds of goats in Serbia. In Central
Serbia, herd books are kept for goats raised on this territory. Quality breeding
animals are registered at Central herd book and are under productivity control.
However, this is only a small portion of animals and the productivity of majority of
goats is unknown. Productivity of high yielding breeds such as Alpine and Saanen
goat is inconsistent and not high, especially milk production. Indigenous goat
breeds are considered endangered and their breeding was almost completely
abandoned. Goat sector in Central Serbia is almost completely dependent on
government founding. The only sustainable prospects for preserving goat sector in
Central Serbia for the future are clean organic production, reinforcement of
markets for goat products and smart government founding.

AB - The aim of this study was to analyse semen quality parameters of fresh-extended porcine semen imported from Denmark
through prolonged importing regulations and transport and to analyse fertility performance in sows inseminated four days post semen
collection. Semen was analysed immediately upon the arrival (4 days post collection) using computer-assisted sperm analyses (CASA),
cytomorphology and flow cytometry, and sows were inseminated later the same day. The mean sperm concentration was 1718.09 ±
100.11 × 106, with average of 1193.40 ± 90.58 × 106 motile cells (69%) and 756.04 ± 70.57 × 106 progressive motile spermatozoa (43.58%)
in a dose, which was almost twice lower in value than producer certified-declared number of 2 billion of motile cells. Acrosome and
sperm membrane integrity test indicated high percentage of total damaged acrosome. Mean values of semen samples analysed by
sperm chromatin structure assay (SCSA) showed relatively high degree of chromatin damage. Membrane permeability test showed high
percentage of sperm with damaged membrane. Prolonged transport negatively affected the sperm quality in terms of both motility and
chromatin structure stability. Fertility of sows was affected by semen quality in terms of concentration and sperm motility parameters,
as well as ratio of live sperm cells population with damaged acrosome

AB - Visual assessment and recognition of milk performance traits of cows are preliminary indicators of milk yield, longevity, as well as reproductive abilities of the animal, which is very important from the aspect of economy of milk production. Deficiencies in udder traits lead to poorer production, difficult milking and premature weaning of cows from the herd. The paper examines the frequency of desirable scores for a certain trait in first-calving heifers distinguished by way of keeping (heads reared by individual producers/holdings and heads reared on the farm) and by origin (domestic and imported animals), as well as the influence of these two factors on the observed traits. Five udder traits were analyzed: front udder length, rear udder length, rear udder height, central ligament, and udder depth on a total of 954 first-calving Simmental heifers. Observed by the way of rearing, higher frequency of desirable scores for all udder traits were achieved by cows reared on the farm, while according to the origin of cows, higher frequency of desirable scores for all udder traits was achieved by imported cows compared to domestic cows. The influence of factors of housing/keeping and origin, examined by χ2 test on all examined linear scores (frequency of scores) of udder traits was statistically very highly significant (p≤0.001), while the analysis of variance (F test) showed very high significance (p≤0.001) of interaction of origin and method of rearing on the traits of the central ligament and the udder depth, and significance (p≤0.05) on the height of the rear udder, however, no statistical significance (p>0.05) of this interaction was established on other linear scores of udder traits (length of the front and rear udder).

AB - Central Serbia has a long tradition of cattle farming and, as a
hilly-mountainous area it favors rearing of dual purpose Simmental breed, and to a
lesser extent, Holstein-Friesian dairy breed. The first Herd Book of Serbia was
founded in 1935. The high quality breeding animals registered are under the
control of production performance properties. According to expert report of the
Institute for Animal Husbandry and the results of the implementation of the
breeding program in 2018 in the territory of Central Serbia, there were a total of
153.979 quality breeding animals of Simmental and 16509 quality breeding
animals of Holstein-Friesian breed in the main herd. Both breeds are of national
interest and are included in the breeding-selection program for dairy cattle that are
implemented through the cooperation of breeders and breeding organizations in the
field. In Central Serbia, there are 157 registered breeding organizations involved in
breeding and livestock recording activities. In this paper, data of the Head breeding
organization in cattle farming, the Institute for Animal Husbandry, as well as
reports issued by the same entity each year were used. A tabular analysis and a
five-year trend are presented according to: the number of recorded animals,
primiparous females in linear evaluation, the realized yield of milk, milk fat and
protein, as well as the trend of the number of bull dams in the population. Based on
the analysis of the results of work on cattle breeding and selection, it can be
concluded that some progress has been made in milk production of both breeds. It
is important to emphasize that there is a significant effect of mentioned factors on
the productivity of entire cattle population in Central Serbia. Systematic work on
the breeding and selection of cattle is an important work that should be carried out
in high quality, continuously and appropriately in order to achieve maximum
effects in cattle production.

AB - The main goal of this research was to examine, using modern
methods, the variability of phenotypic correlations of production performances and
reproductive properties of Simmental cows reared on the farms of individual
agricultural producers, in different breeding areas of the Republic of Serbia. The
study of phenotypic correlations of milk performance and fertility properties in
different regions of Serbia was carried out on a total of 3.056 primi parous
Simmental heifers under control, with lactations completed within one year. The
examined animals were reared on different individual farms, and mainly in very
different conditions of housing and nutrition, depending on the breeding area. The
study of phenotypic correlations included the following milk performance traits:
milk yield, milk fat content, milk fat yield, yield of 4% corrected milk; and fertility
properties: age at first calving and service period.
The results of the study among other things indicate that although the
phenotypic correlations between the fertility and milk performance properties show
different degrees of variation, they should be taken into account in the final
assessment of the breeding value of the animal, so that the breeding selection
programs are more comprehensively designes.

AB - The aim of this study was to determine the frequency of the κ-casein and β-lactoglobulin genotypes of the daughters of 5 Simmental bulls (sires) used for insemination in Serbia. Blood samples were taken from a total of 157 cows of the Simmental breed in Toplica and Rasina districts. Cows from which blood samples were taken were the daughters of the following bulls: Rorb B033, Dionis B52, Val B064, Rondi B029 and Res 1433. In all daughters of studied bulls, the presence of all three genotypes was determined, except for daughters of bull sire Res B1433, where the absence of genotype BB was determined. In addition to determining the frequency of genotypes and alleles for both milk protein fractions, based on the χ2 test, a link between the sire and the presence of genotypes was determined, and in both cases a statistically significant relationship (p≤0.001) was found.

AB - The aim of this study was to investigate the effects of three extenders on ram sperm quality after short-term liquid storage (24 hours' holding time). The study included 20 crossbred rams (Pirot Pramenka x Wurttemberg x Ile de France), 12 months old. Animals were housed at the experimental sheep farm of the Institute for Animal Husbandry in Belgrade, Serbia. Semen was collected through electro ejaculation. The ejaculates were obtained from single services and routine field analysis of the semen was performed immediately after the collection. The semen was split and diluted with three extenders, namely Optidyl (R), Andromed (R) and ultrahigh temperature processed (UHT) milk, in ratios of 1 : 50 or 1 : 100. The ejaculates were examined for sperm motility variables (sperm cell motility percentage, the progressive motility percentage, curvilinear velocity (VCL), straight line velocity (VSL), average path velocity (VAP), sperm linearity (LIN), straightness (STR), amplitude of lateral sperm head displacement (ALH), beat cross frequency (BCF) and circular tracks), and sperm morphology (live sperm percentage, percentage of normal sperm forms with intact acrosome, percentage of abnormal sperm forms and total damaged acrosome) by computer-assisted sperm analysis (CASA) and classic sperm cytology after supravital eosin/nigrosine/trypan blue staining, respectively. It was observed that the type of extender used in diluting ram semen is an important factor in the successful short-term liquid preservation (at 4 degrees C) of ram spermatozoa. In conclusion, this study showed that egg yolk (Optidyl) and soybean (Andromed)-based extenders gave better results of both sperm morphology and sperm motility parameters compared with UHT milk.

AB - The research was performed on Holstein-Friesian and Black and White bull dams reared on five farms of Agricultural Corporation of Belgrade - PKB. The study included 575 lactations of cows selected as bull dams and their progeny calved in the period from 2007 - 2014 and represent progeny of 24 bulls. The following dairy traits were analysed in a standard lactation (305 days): milk yield (kg) - MY, milk fat content (%) - % MF, milk fat yield (kg) - MFY, protein content (%) - % PC and protein yield (kg) - PY. Holstein-Friesian bull dams and their progeny, in standard lactation, produced on average 9239.84 +/- 1607.64 kg of milk, with a milk fat content of 3.44 +/- 0.20 and protein content of 3.21 +/- 0.12. The impact of bull - sire, year of birth, lactation order, farm, year and calving season was present at different levels of statistical significance on yield traits, while the genetic group had no influence on any of the milk traits. Bull sire, year of birth, lactation order and calving season did not influence the variability of milk fat and protein content. Heritability of observed milk traits was medium to low. The content of milk fat and protein had the lowest values of heritability, 0.014, and 0.024, respectively. The heritability of milk yield, milk fat yield and protein yield was 0.293, 0.319 and 0.273, respectively.

AB - Determining the degree of correlation between two or more traits depends to a large extent on their manifestation. The knowledge of genetic and phenotypic correlations between body characteristics of the animal and product characteristics can help define the breeding goal, but also to define and harmonize the assessment criteria. Although the phenotypic and genetic correlations between the traits of body development and type and the milk yield show different degrees of variation, they should be taken into account in the final assessment of the breeding value of the animal so that the selection programs are more comprehesively defined. The examination of phenotypic correlations of linear assessment scores of the type, milk and fertility traits was performed on a total of 303 cows of the Simental breed in the first three lactations. The examination of phenotypic correlations included the following milk performance properties in the first three standard lactations: milk yield, milk fat content, milk fat yield, yield of 4% corrected milk; also fertility traits: age at current calving and service period in each lactation; while the linear type scoring included a group of traits: type or frame, muscularity, fundament, udder.

AB - The analysis included 433 daughters of 10 bulls, calving for the first time in the period from 2007 to 2014, on 6 dairy farms of the Agricultural Corporation Belgrade AD. Fixed factors included in the model were the effects of the farm, year of calving and calving season, and as a random factor the impact of the bull sire. The observed fertility properties on the basis of which breeding values were calculated were the number of days of gestation, the age at the first insemination, the service period duration and the calving interval. Bulls were ranked on the basis of these properties and using the Spearman correlation coefficient, the degree of agreement between the ranks was determined. According to the breeding values calculated by using the Best Linear Unbiased Prediction (BLUP) method, the sire 1517 was best ranked for the trait duration of service period (-34,94 days) and the calving interval (-36,14 days), relative to the average of daughters. The effects of the farm and year of calving showed no significance (p>0.05) except on the duration of the gestation. The effect of the calving season showed a very high significance (p (lt) 0.001) for the following properties: age at first insemination, duration of the service period and calving interval, as well as significance (p (lt) 0.05) for the property duration of the gestation. A statistically very significant degree of agreement between the service period and the calving interval of 0.99** (p (lt) 0.01) was determined by the Spearman coefficient of correlation, while there was no significant difference between the other properties (p>0.05).

AB - Problems with legs and various forms of lameness of cows, in intensive milk production, are the third significant problem occuring in this production, after mastitis and reproductive disorders, both globally and in our country. The paper analyzes the incidence of the deformation of legs of 145 cows of the Simmental breed in the Kolubara region, and the influence of paragenetic factors (housing/holding and type of stall/bedding and lactation) on the incidence of deformations. The obtained results show that, of the total number of cows assessed, 3.45% had 'X' position of the front legs, 14.8% had a 'X' position of the hind legs. The convergent position of the front legs was recorded in 35.86%, and divergent in 8.28% of animals. The convergent position of the hind legs was observed in 16.55% of cows, and divergent in 2.76%. The outward position of the front legs was observed in 4.14% of cows, inward position in 11.03%, and broad position in 4.14% of studied cows. Also, 17.24% of the cows had a so called sable like position of hind legs, and 7.59% showed steap angle of hind legs. The pronounced soft front leg pasterns were observed in 7.59% of the cows, and the soft pasterns of the hind legs in 33.79% of the total number of observed cows. The observed changes in the ankles in the shape of swelling were recorded in 1.38% of cattle on the carpal joint and 2.76% on the tarsal ankle. The damaged shoulder and body joint (scabbed shoulder) was observed in 43.45% of the total number of cows evaluated. Scores for the front and hind legs front, back and side views, varied at different levels of significance under the influence of the type of stall/bedding, while the scores for the condition of the hind leg pasterns varied highly significantly (p (lt) 0.001) under the influence of the type of stall/bedding. The scores for the front leg pasterns and scores for shoulder and body joint were not significant (p> 0.05) depending on the type of stall/bedding and the method of housing/holding of cows.
AB - The objective of this study was to determine the frequency of the kappa-casein and beta-lactoglobulin genotypes in the Simmental cattle in Serbia and compare it with the frequency according to the Hardy-Weinberg equilibrium law. Blood samples were taken from a total of 157 cows of the Simmental breed in Toplica and Rasina districts. Of the 157 cows included in this study, the AA kappa-casein genotype was found in 53 cows, which makes a frequency of 33.80%, the AB genotype in 81 cows or 51.60% and the BB genotype in 23 cows or 14.60%. The allelic frequency A was 59.60%, while allele B had a frequency of 40.40%. In regard to the frequency of genotypes and beta-lactoglobulin alleles for the total studied population of cows obtained for AA, AB and BB genotypes for beta-lactoglobulin, was 33.10%, 49.70% and 17.20%, respectively, which means that 52 animals had genotype AA, 78 genotype AB and 27 genotype BB. The frequency of alleles A and B resulting from the incidence of genotypes was 58.00% for allele A and 42.00% for allele B. The specified frequencies for both protein fractions statistically differed significantly from the frequency according to the Hardy-Weinberg equilibrium law, which confirmed the absence of equilibrium in the examined population.

AB - Assessment of cows' exterior is important because of the assessment of the capability of animals to guarantee, through their overall exterior appearance as well as the appearance of certain parts of the body, not only their good health but also long production life (longevity). The main goal of measuring of domestic animals is to determine the body dimensions, to compare animals of the same or different species, to understand the numerous physiological and biochemical processes that occur in the animal organism. Only by measuring, the accurate and reliable data on the general physical development of the animal and the harmony of its structure are obtained. In the present study, most of the physical measures were taken on total of 954 animals. The average height of the cow of the Simmental breed was 141.95 cm, the length of the pelvis was 51.44 cm, the width of the pelvis was 50.45 cm and the body depth was 78.84 cm. By analyzing the impact of the unified factor of the rearing system and origin, its very significant influence (p <0.001) was determined on all four properties of body development

AB - There are numerous methods for decontamination of animal feed, and a relatively inexpensive method is the application of inorganic adsorbents. Adsorbents from the group of alumosilicates are particularly important, especially bentonite. Inorganic adsorbents are able to detoxify foods contaminated with mycotoxins by their adsorption power, while minimizing the negative effects on the organism.
The aim of this study was to examine and determine whether the use of natural bentonite has an effect on adsorption of aflatoxins from food. The influence of daily intake of bentonite at different doses (30 and 50 g / head) on the content of aflatoxin M1 (AFM1) in milk of examined cows was examined. By mycotoxicological analysis of the feed it was determined that maize grains were infested with aflatoxin B1 (1.24 μg/kg) and that this was the cause of the AFM1 metabolite in raw milk of cows. Based on the results obtained, it was concluded that the content of AFM1 in milk of cows consuming food with a daily intake of 30 and 50 g bentonite was significantly reduced.

AB - The data of the Institute for Animal Husbandry, Belgrade-Zemun have been used to investigate the variability of the properties that are observed in the progeny testing of Simmental bulls. The analysis is based on a sample of 7,845 first-calving heifers in the period 2007-2010. The tests included the following milk properties in the standard first lactation (305 days): milk yield (kg), milk fat content (%) and milk fat yield (kg). An analysis of the production traits of the first-calving heifers under control showed that their average milk yield was 4346.49 kg milk with 3.93% milk fat and yield of 171.11 kg of milk fat. Sires, years and calving season exhibited a highly significant impact (p<0.01) on all the milk properties observed in the progeny testing. Based on the BLUP solution, the rank of bulls for each trait was formed, and then the correlation coefficients of the rank, ranging from 0.402 (relationship between the yield of milk and milk fat content) to 0.989 (the relationship between the yield of milk and the yield of milk fat) were established.

AB - The study, which included 9 Holstein-Friesian bulls from the Livestock Center of the PKB Corporation, analyzed the impact of the ejaculate collection season on certain semen properties (ejaculate volume, sperm concentration, sperm motility in native ejaculate, sperm dilution, number of doses of one ejaculate and mobility of spermatozoa after thawing). For the purposes of this analysis, data for the three-year (2011-2013) and one-year period (2014) were used. In the three-year period, based on 621 ejaculates of three bulls, the average values for examined properties were calculated and the season's impact on these properties analyzed. The results show that the ejaculate collection season had a very significant effect (p<0.001) on the sperm motility in native ejaculate, and a significant effect (p<0.05) on the level of dilution of ejaculate and the mobility of spermatozoa after thawing. In the single-year period, based on 326 ejaculates from 9 bulls, the average values of the studied properties were calculated, and the influence of the season was also analyzed. The ejaculate collecting season showed a very high impact (p<0.001) on the mobility of spermatozoa after thawing, but no significant effect was found on other properties (p> 0.05).

AB - The aim of the present study was to obtain relevant results related to the basic indicators of fertility and milk yield of Simmental cows, in production conditions on farms of agricultural producers, using appropriate mathematical and statistical procedures, i.e. to determine the influence of bull sires originating from Serbia, Austria and Germany on the implementation of the main breeding program and improvement of production traits of Simmental cows on the territory of Šumadija district. The study of the effect of bull sires who are originally from Serbia, Austria and Germany on performance traits of Simmental cows included a total of 303 cows in first three lactations. Milk production of cows descendents of bulls from the German population was higher compared with the production of cows originating from Austria in the first lactation by 58.29 kg and in the third by 67.72 kg, but in the second it was lower by 12.31 kg. The variability of age at first calving ranged from 766.93 (cows progeny of domestic bulls) to 813.06 days (cows progeny Austrian bulls). Average duration of service period had the interval of variation of 86.80 in cows from domestic bulls in the third lactation to 109.88 days in cows originating from Austrian bulls in the first lactation.

abstract = "The aim of the present study was to obtain relevant results related to the basic indicators of fertility and milk yield of Simmental cows, in production conditions on farms of agricultural producers, using appropriate mathematical and statistical procedures, i.e. to determine the influence of bull sires originating from Serbia, Austria and Germany on the implementation of the main breeding program and improvement of production traits of Simmental cows on the territory of Šumadija district. Average duration of service period had the interval of variation of 86.80 in cows from domestic bulls in the third lactation to 109.88 days in cows originating from Austrian bulls in the first lactation., Unapređenje fenotipova mlečnosti krava zahteva kontinuiran rad koji obuhvata sistematsko poboljšanje kvantitavnih genetskih osobina i permanentni rad na njihovom poboljšanom ispoljavanju. Visok prinos mleka, mlečne masti i proteina, pored selekcije zahteva i optimalno obezbeđenje paragenetskih faktora kao što su ishrana, držanje, odgoj, nega i dr. AB - To test the variability of fertility traits of Holstein-Friesian bulls monitored in progeny test, reproduction data of 342 cows, daughters of 15 bulls were used. Cows have been in production in seven farms of Agricultural Corporation "Belgrade" in the period from 2004 to 2012. The study included the following fertility traits: the average calving age, service period and calving interval. To analyze the influence of genetic and non-genetic sources of variability a mixed model with random effect of bull - sire, the fixed effects of farm, year, season and order of calving was used. The sire is present in variability of all the observed fertility traits (p <0.01), whereas the fixed factors manifested their influence at different levels of statistical significance. The heritability of fertility traits was low: the average calving age – 0.224, service period – 0.087, calving interval – 0.085. Repeatability of mentioned traits was 0.258, 0.111, 0.102, respectively.
