AB  - The first few weeks after broilers hatch are the period of most intense bone growthand development, and the time when they are most susceptible to the in fluence ofvarious external and internal factors. Research in the recent decades has focused on theinvolvement of melatonin in bone development during early life in chickens. Melatoninrelease from the pineal gland has a circadian rhythm, with the highest levels circulatingduring the night and decreasing during the light phase of the day. Various types oflighting are used in intensive broiler production. In this study, the effects of melatoninon the tibial structure and growth of broilers were investigated. During the first twoweeks of life, two groups of chickens were kept under continuous light and fed thesame diet, with the experimental group receiving melatonin in the amount of 0.03 g/kg of feed. The results obtained showed that the addition of melatonin in the diet hadpositive effects on the development and growth of the tibia, which was expressed ina signi ficantly greater thickness of the diaphysis and cortical bone of the diaphysis,higher breaking force and higher values of alkaline phosphatase activity. The corticalbone mineral density of the tibia did not differ signi ficantly between the groups ofchicken.

AB  - Intensive broiler chicken production involves different lighting regimes, which affects a natural cycle of secretion of
melatonin, a hormone included in multiple physiological processes in a bird's body. This research aimed to determine the effects of
dietary melatonin supplementation during the first two weeks of broiler chickens' life, bred under constant 24 h lighting, on their health
and some hematological, biochemical, and production parameters. The study lasted 6 weeks. Three hundred and twenty 1-day chickens
were divided into two groups (control - C and experimental - M), with four replications and 40 chickens in each replica. In the first
two weeks (the first phase of the study), a continuous lighting mode 24L: 0D was applied. Group M was receiving a diet supplemented
with 30 mg/kg synthetic melatonin only during the first phase. Group C had a diet without melatonin supplementation throughout the
whole study. Melatonin addition had a statistically significant effect (P<0.01) on the mean values of body weight and daily weight gain
at the end of the 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th, 5th, and 6th week. The chickens of the experimental group have had a significantly higher value of the
European Production Efficiency Factor (EPEF) (P<0.05). The results presented in this paper indicate a direct benefit in stress relief in
broilers and a value of the organism's antioxidant system promotion, manifested by improved production performance and fattening
efficiency.

AB  - U cilju perzistentnosti kvaliteta ljuske konzumnih jaja i smanjenja pojave defekata ljuske i ekonomskih gubitaka nastalih usled nošenja jaja sa napuklom ili razbijenom ljuskom, uzimajući, takođe, u obzir i napuštanje klasičnog kaveznog sistema gajenja kokoši nosilja zbog narušenih uslova za očuvanje dobrobiti nosilja, razvili smo tehničko rešenje koje je zasnovano na eksperimentalnim istraživanjima kvaliteta ljuske u svim bitnim segmentima tehnološkog procesa proizvodnje konzumnih jaja kvalitetne ljuske: ishrana Ca, sistem gajenja i genotip. Na osnovu rezultata sopstvenih istraživanja, razvili smo dva tehnološka postupka u okviru tehničkog rešenja koja se odnose na podmirenja potreba nosilja za kalcijumom i u uslovima smanjene konzumacije i usvojivosti obročnog kalcijuma koji nastaje kao posledica starenja kokoši ali i određenih nepovoljnih uslova u pojedinim sistemima gajenja. Prvim smo odredili optimalan odnos od 60-80% zamene sitno mlevenog krečnjaka (<0,02mm) krupnijim česticama mermera u smešama za ishranu nosilja, kao i optimalnu veličinu čestica izvora kalcijuma od 1,1 do 1,4 mm u obroku nosilja. U završnoj fazi proizvodnog ciklusa, kada se smanjuje sposobnost iskorišćavanja kalcijuma iz obroka i dolazi do povećane pojave jaja napukle ili razbijene ljuske, primenili smo postupak dodatne ishrane kalcijumom, iznad preporuka. Najbolji rezultati u pogledu čvrstoće ljuske postignuti su svakodnevnim naknadnim dodavanjem po hrani količine od 1g po nosilji u dvokratnom periodu (8 i 13 sati) krupno mlevenog mermera–grita. Izbor genotipa kokoši i sistema gajenja u realizaciji tehničkog rešenja izvršen je uzimajući u obzir zabranu klasičnog kaveznog sistema i neophodnost prelaska na alternativne sisteme gajenja, odnosno obogaćene kavezne sisteme gajenja. Istraživanja efekta genetske osnove kokoši, sprovedena na hibridnoj nosilji i autohtonoj rasi su pokazala signifikantan uticaj genotipa na parametre kvaliteta ljuske, odnosno značajno bolji kvalitet ljuske hibridnih nosilja, ali i veću zavisnost parametara kvaliteta od starosti nosilja u poređenju sa autohtonom rasom. Pokazatelji kvaliteta ljuske iz konvencionalne proizvodnje su bili bolji u svim kontrolnim periodima u odnosu na free range proizvodnju. Uporednim ispitivanjem efekta genetskog potencijala kokoši lakog linijskog hibrida, konstatovali smo značajne razlike između hibrida u čvrstoći ljuske. Uzimajući u obzir debljinu i čistoću ljuske, može se konstatovati da izbor obogaćenog kaveznog sistema, kao osnovu novog tehnološkog procesa proizvodnje jaja, smanjuje mogućnost pojave defekata ljuske i obezbeđujući bolje higijenske uslove i veću zdravstvenu bezbednost jaja u ishrani ljudi.

AB  - The study was conducted on Isa Brown hybrid hens at the age of 49-57 weeks. The effect of using different levels of share of raw soybean of two varieties in mixtures for feeding hens on egg production, body weight, food consumption, the occurrence of defective eggs, mortality and the relative weight of the pancreas was studied. The possibility of replacing the heat-treated soybean grains, varieties Lana, with reduced trypsin inhibitor (TI) and Lydia with a standard level of TI, with raw soybean grains was examined. The research was conducted on the principle of two factorial experiment 2 x 4 (2 varieties x 4 levels of share of raw grain in the mixture) with a total of 8 diet treatments and 4 replicates per each treatment. In the first 5 weeks of the study, the differences in the number of eggs produced under the influence of tested factors were not significant. Under the influence of soybean varieties, the level of share of raw soybean and interaction of the studied factors showed significant differences (p (lt) 0.01) after 53 week of age. The use of soy with lower TI in the diet for laying hens resulted in a significantly greater capacity compared to standard variety. The share of raw soybean grains of 8 % in the mixtures significantly reduced the number of eggs laid. The differences in body weights, food consumption, occurrence of defective eggs and the relative weight of the pancreas were not significantly influenced by the studied factors or by their interaction effect.
AB  - Cilj ovih istraživanja je bio da se ispitaju mogućnosti zamene termički obrađenog sojinog zrna, sorte Lana sa smanjenim sadržajem tripsin inhibitora (TI) i sorte Lidija sa standardnim nivoom TI, sirovim zrnom. Ispitan je efekat korišćenja različitog nivoa učešća sirove soje obe sorte u smešama za ishranu kokoši nosilja hibrida Isa Brown na proizvodnju jaja, telesne mase, konzumaciju hrane, pojavu defektnih jaja, mortalitet i relativnu masu pankreasa. Istraživanje je izvedeno po principu dvofaktorijalnog ogleda 2 x 4 (2 sorte soje x 4 nivoa učešća sirovog zrna u smeši) sa ukupno 8 tretmana ishrane i 4 ponavljanja po tretmanu. U prvih 5 nedelja ispitivanja razlike u broju ukupno snešenih jaja pod uticajem ispitivanih faktora nisu bile značajne. Pod uticajem sorte soje, nivoa učešća sirovog sojinog zrna i interakcije ispitivanih faktora utvrđene su značajne razlike (p (lt) 0,01) nakon 53. nedelje uzrasta. Korišćenje soje sa nižim nivoom TI u ishrani nosilja uticalo je na značajno bolju nosivost u odnosu na standardnu sortu soje. Sa učešćem sirovog sojinog zrna od 8 % u smešama značajno se smanjio broj ukupno snešenih jaja. Razlike u ostvarenim telesnim masama, konzumaciji hrane, pojavi defektnih jaja i relativnoj masi pankreasa koje su se javile nisu bile pod značajnim uticajem ispitivanih faktora kao ni pod uticajem njihovog interakcijskog dejstva.

AB  - Shell breakage (6-20%) is of major concern for its economic consequences and safety of egg consumption. A great deal of effort in the fields of nutrition, genetics and environmental conditions have been carried out to improve eggshell quality but understanding the formation of the eggshell fabric and the origin of shell defects is perhaps the key to solving eggshell problems. The aim of this review is to summaries new information on eggshell problems. The aim of this review is to summaries new information on eggshell formation and update the nutritional unfavourable environmental conditions.
AB  - Lom ljuske (6-20%) problem je od velikog značaja sa stanovišta ekonomskih posledica i bezbednosti jaja u ishrani. U oblasti ishrane, genetike i uslova životne sredine se čine veliki napori kako bi se poboljšao kvalitet ljuske jajeta, ali razumevanje procesa nastanka ljuske i porekla defekata ljuske predstavlja ključ za razumevanje ovog problema. Cilj ovog preglednog rada je da se rezimiraju nova saznanja i informacije o pitanjima ljuske jajeta, kao i ažuriraju novi nepovoljni prehrambeni i uslovi životne sredine.

Changes of egg quality properties with the age of layer hens in traditional and conventional production

AB  - The upcoming ban on cage rearing system, ecological aspects of production, perception of better quality and biological safety of products from less intensive systems are reasons in favour of alternative (non-conventional) systems of production of table eggs. Considering only few studies have dealt with quality properties of eggs obtained from autochthonous breeds and changes during production cycle, objective of this study was to define these changes and determine the degree of correlation between the age of layer hens of Banat Naked-Neck breed and quality of eggs in traditional production in relation to conventional, traditional production of light line hybrid of layers in cage system. Results of the study showed poorer quality of eggs from traditional production but certain properties (egg mass, egg shell mass), thanks to strong positive correlation to age of layer hens, were significantly improved, i.e. no decrease with the age of layers was determined, contrary to eggs from conventional production.
AB  - Predstojeća zabrana kaveznog sistema gajenja, ekološki aspekti proizvodnje, percepcija boljeg kvaliteta i biološke bezbednosti proizvoda iz manje intenzivnih sistema su razlozi koji idu u prilog alternativnim (nekonvencionalnim) sistemima proizvodnje jaja za konzum. Obzirom na mali broj istraživanja koja su se bavila osobinama kvaliteta jaja autohtonih rasa i promenama tokom proizvodnog ciklusa, cilj ovog rada je bio da se definišu te promene i odredi stepen korelacije između starosti kokoši banatskog gološijana i kvaliteta jaja u tradicionalnoj proizvodnji u odnosu na klasičnu, konvencionalnu proizvodnju lakog linijskog hibrida kokoši u kaveznom sistemu. Rezultati rada su ukazali na lošiji kvalitet jaja iz tradicionalne proizvodnje ali su pojedine osobine (masa jajeta, masa ljuske) zahvaljujući jakoj pozitivnoj korelaciji sa uzrastom nosilja značajno poboljšane i suprotno, unutrašnji kvalitet jaja je održan na istom nivou, odnosno nije se smanjivao sa uzrastom nosilja, suprotno jajima iz konvencionalne proizvodnje.

Naked neck: Autochthonous breed of chicken in Serbia: Carcass characteristics

AB  - Objective of the research was to establish the growth of body mass and slaughter characteristics of the autochthonous chicken breed - naked neck of different varieties (white, black, gray) in our country, reared in extensive system. Fattening lasted 98 days (14 weeks). In the paper, the growth of body mass of chickens at the age of 8, 10, 12 and 14 weeks of fattening are presented, also slaughter yields, conformation measures, shares of major carcass parts and roasting loss. Average body mass varied from 1108.93g (W), 1080.26 g (B) and 1005.00g (G). Slaughter yield 'traditionally dressed carcass' varied from 75.09% (B) to 76.58% (G), yield 'ready to cook' from 67.88 (W) to 68.76 (G) and yield 'ready to grill' from 58.38% (W) to 58.89 (G). Obtained mean values of conformation measures indicated poor carcass built of chickens of both sexes and were result of strong effect of body mass of chickens. Considerable effect of variety and sex on differences between mean values for major carcass parts (breast, thighs, drumsticks, wings) was not established. Further research shall be necessary in order to confirm the hypothesis that naked neck chickens have better meat quality for which the consumers who prefer natural food are prepared to pay higher price.
AB  - Cilj ispitivanja je bio da se ustanovi porast telesne mase i klanične karakteristike autohtone rase pilića gološijani različitih varijeteta (beli, crni, sivi), u našoj zemlji, gajenih u ekstenzivnom sistemu. Tov je trajao 98 dana (14 nedelja). U radu su prikazani porasti telesnih masa pilića u uzrastu od 8,10, 12 i 14, nedelja tova, klanični randmani, mere konformacije, udeli važnijih delova trupa i kalo pečenja. Prosečna telesna masa pilića kretala se od 1108.93g (W), 1080.26 g (B) i 1005.00g (G). Klanični randman 'klasični ogleda' varirao je od 75.09% (B) do 76.58% (G) i randman 'spreman za pečenje' od 67.88 (W) do 68.76 (G) i randman 'spreman za roštilj' od 58.38% (W) do 58.89 (G). Dobijene srednje vrednost mera konformacije ukazali su na lošu građu trupova pilića oba pola i rezultat su jakog uticaja telesne mase pilića. Značajan uticaj varijeteta i pola na razlike između srednjih vrednosti vrednijih delova trupa (grudi, bataci, karabataci, krila) nije ustanovljen. Neophodna su dalja istraživanja koja će potvrditi hipotezu da pilići gološijani imaju bolji kvalitet mesa za koji su potrošači ljubitelji prirodne hrane spremni da plate višu cenu.

Dobijene srednje vrednost mera konformacije ukazali su na lošu građu trupova pilića oba pola i rezultat su jakog uticaja telesne mase pilića. Značajan uticaj varijeteta i pola na razlike između srednjih vrednosti vrednijih delova trupa (grudi, bataci, karabataci, krila) nije ustanovljen. Neophodna su dalja istraživanja koja će potvrditi hipotezu da pilići gološijani imaju bolji kvalitet mesa za koji su potrošači ljubitelji prirodne hrane spremni da plate višu cenu.",

AB  - The purpose of this study was to estimate the morphometric and mechanical parameters of femur and tibiotarsal bone in male and female chickens of three Serbian autochthonous naked neck breeds (white, black and gray) and compared these values with chickens of commercial naked neck hybrid Farm Q. Chickens were reared in extensive system and fattening lasted 98 days (14 weeks) The bone length, weight, cross sectional diaphyseal geometry (total area, medullar area, cortical area) and bone breaking force were determined. Between the varieties of autochthonous naked neck breeds, the presence of significant difference was not established. Average bone mass and length, of femur in male chickens were 13.6 g and 8.2 cm and for tibiotarsal bone, 19.5 g and 11.7 cm. In a female chickens those values were 10.6 g and 7.8 cm for femur and 15.9 g and 11.0 cm for tibiotarsus. In a male chickens average breaking force of femur (36.1 kg) and tibiotarsus (31.6 kg) were higher than those in a female chickens (27.0; 29.6 kg, respectively). In comparison with chickens of commercial naked neck hybrid (Farm Q), chickens of three Serbian autochthonous naked neck breeds have had significantly lower (P (lt) 0.05) bone mass, cross sectional diaphyseal area and cross sectional medullar area. Bone length and cross sectional cortical area were not significantly differed. However, tibiotarsal strength, expressed as bone breaking force, were signifficantly (P (lt)  0.05) higher in a chickens of autochthonous naked neck breeds.
AB  - Cilj ispitivanja je bio da se ustanove morfometrijske i mehaničke osobine kostiju nogu (butna kost i golenjača) pilića tri autohtona varijeteta gološijana koji se gaje u Srbiji (beli, crni i sivi) i poređenje tih rezultata sa parametrima golenjače komercijalnog hibrida gološijana Farm Q. Pilići su gajeni u ekstenzivnim uslovima a period tova je trajao 98 dana (14 nedelja). Na desnoj butnoj kosti i golenjači određivani su masa, dužina, parametri geometrije preseka dijafize (površina preseka dijafize, površina preseka medularne šupljine i površina preseka korteksa) i sila loma. Između varijeteta autohtonih pilića gološijana nije ustanovljeno postojanje značajnih razlika u osobinama kostiju ali su muški pilići ispoljili veće vrednosti u odnosu na ženke. Prosečne vrednosti mase i dužine butne kosti, kod muških pilića su iznosile 13.6 g i 8.2 cm a golenjače 19.5 g i 11.7 cm. Kod ženki ove vrednosti su prosečno iznosile, za butnu kost 10.6 g i 7.8 cm a za golenjaču 15.9 g i 11.0 cm. Vrednosti sile loma ispitivanih kostiju su pokazale da autohtoni gološijani imaju dobru čvrstoću kostiju. Kod mužjaka, prosečna sila loma butne kosti (36.1 kg) i golenjače (31.6 kg) su bile veće nego kod ženki (20.0 kg - butna kost; 29.6 kg - golenjača). U poređenju sa pilićima komercijalnog hibrida glošijana Farm Q, pilići autohtonih varijeteta su imali značajno (p (lt) 0.05) manju masu golenjače, površinu preseka dijafize i medularne šupljine. Dužina kosti i površina preseka korteksa se nisu značajno razlikovale. Međutim, čvrstoća golenjače, izražena kroz silu loma, bila je značajno (P (lt) 0.05) veća kod pilića autohtonih varijeteta gološijana.

Naked neck chicken of Serbian and foreign origin: Carcass characteristic

AB  - Objective of the research was to establish the growth of body mass and slaughter characteristics of native, autochthonous breed of chickens called Naked neck of different varieties (white, black, gray) in our country and French hybrid Naked neck Farm Q, reared in extensive systems. Fattening lasted for 91 (Farm Q) and 98 (naked neck) days. In the paper, the body masses prior to slaughtering are presented, as well as slaughter yields (traditionally dressed carcass, ready to grill, ready to cook), absolute and index values of conformation measures (shank and keel length, breast deep and angle, thigh girth) and shares of major carcass parts. Average body mass of chickens prior to slaughtering varied from 1371.0 g (FQ) to 1080.26 g (B) and 1295.0g (NN). Slaughter yield, i.e. dressing percentage, 'traditionally dressed carcass' varied from 79.4% (FQ) to 75.4% (NN), slaughter yield 'ready to cook' from 72. 4% (FQ) to 68.1% (NN) and slaughter yield 'ready to grill' from 62.6% (FQ) to 58.7 (NN). Obtained mean values of conformation measures indicated poor development and built of carcasses of both sexes and were results of strong effect of body mass of chickens. Significant effect of genotype and sex on differences between mean values obtained for major carcass parts (breast, thigh + drumstick) was established in share of breast in Farm Q females and Farm Q males in share of thigh + drumstick. Farm Q chickens had statistically significantly higher share of thigh + drumstick, and chickens of genotype Naked neck had higher share of breasts. Further research is necessary which would confirm the hypothesis that naked neck chickens (both investigated genotypes) have better nutritive quality of meat for which consumers which prefer natural food are willing to pay the higher price.

Tov je trajao 91 (Farm Q) i 98 (nacked neck) dana. U radu su prikazane telesne mase pilića pred klanje, klanični randmani (traditionally dressed carcass, ready to grill, ready to cook), apsolutne i indeksne vrednosti mere konformacije (shank and keel length, breast deep and angle, thight girth) i udeli važnijih delova trupa. Prosečna telesna masa pilića pred klanje bila je od 1371.0 g (FQ) do 1295.0 g (NN). Morphometric and biomechanical parameters of tibiotarsus in different strains of broilers

AB  - One hundred male and one hundred female broiler chicks from different strains : Master Gris, Red Bro, Farm Q and Hubbard Classic, were reared in conventional broler house system, during first three weeks After the third week, fattening was continued in an extensive free-range rering system. At the end of experimental period (91 days of age) 10 male and 10 female birds, of each stran, were killed by cervical dislocation and the right tibiotarsal bones were removed and used for morphological and mechanical analysis. The obtained results showed that there were statistically signifficant strain differences. Mass, length, breaking force, cross sectional area of diaphysis, medullary cavity area and cortical area, of tibiotarsal bone of Farm Q hybrid chicks were statistically signifficant lower than that of Hubbard Classic, Master Gris and Red Bro strains in both male and female chicks.
AB  - Po 100 muških i 100 ženskih pilića hibrida Master Gris, Red Bro, Hubbard Classic i Farm Q, je, tokom prve tri nedelje tova, gajeno u zatvorenim objektima sa standardnim uslovima ishrane, napajanja i ambijenta. Posle treće nedelje, pilići su prebačeni u ekstenzivni sistem gajenja sa ispustima. Tov je trajao 91 dana, kada je izvršeno žrtvovanje životinja. Od po 10 jedinki muškog i ženskog pola, svakog hibrida, uzimana je desna golenjača za morfometrijska i biomehanička ispitivanja. Dobijeni rezultati su pokazali da između hibrida postoje značajne razlike u osbinama golenjače. Msa, dužina, sila loma i poprečni presci dijafize golenjače, medularne šupljine i površina preseka korteksa, golenjače hibrida Farm Q, bili su statistički značajno manji u odnosu na ostala tri hibrida. Ove razlike su se ispoljile i kod pilića muškog i kod pilića ženskog pola.

Posle treće nedelje, pilići su prebačeni u ekstenzivni sistem gajenja sa ispustima. Tov je trajao 91 dana, kada je izvršeno žrtvovanje životinja. Od po 10 jedinki muškog i ženskog pola, svakog hibrida, uzimana je desna golenjača za morfometrijska i biomehanička ispitivanja. Dobijeni rezultati su pokazali da između hibrida postoje značajne razlike u osbinama golenjače. Msa, dužina, sila loma i poprečni presci dijafize golenjače, medularne šupljine i površina preseka korteksa, golenjače hibrida Farm Q, bili su statistički značajno manji u odnosu na ostala tri hibrida. Ove razlike su se ispoljile i kod pilića muškog i kod pilića ženskog pola.",

Effect of dietary protein levels, sex and age on tibiae charateristics in two strains of broiler chickens

AB  - Cobb 500 and Hubbard Classic broiler chicks were reared on the floor during seven weeks of fattening. Chicks, of each strain, were divided in two groups (160 chicks in group) and feed with two isocaloric diets differed in protein levels. The contents of crude protein in the diets 1, were 23 % (1-2 weeks of age), 22 % (3. week), 21 % (4 - 6 weeks), 18 % (7. week) and in the diets 2 were 22 % (1 - 2 weeks), 21 % (3. week), 20 % (4 - 6 weeks) and 17 % (7. week of age). At days 35, 42 and 49, 10 male and 10 female chicks were sacrificed from both strain and both group. The right tibiae were removed and prepared for analysis. Bone breaking force were determined by three-point-bending test at the midlength. Geometrical properties were obtained by measuring of outside and inside antero-posterior and lateromedial diameters, at the middiaphyseal transverse section of each tibia. These data were used to calculated of bones cross sectional cortical area and cross sectional medullar area. The obtained results showed that cross sectional cortical area and cross sectional medullar area increased with age and were influenced by strain and sex but not by dietary protein levels. Hubbard Classic chicks had higher cortical and lower medullar area than Cobb 500 chicks. The breaking force and ratio cortical/medullar area were significantly (p (lt)  0.05) greater in male than in female chicks of each strain. The male chicks of both strain, fed the diets 2, during six weeks of fattening, had the largest tibiae breaking force (47.0-50.0 kg) but the differences were not significant. Geometrical and mechanical characteristics of broilers tibiae were notsignificantly influenced by dietary protein levels.
AB  - U ogledu su korišćeni brojlerski pilići hibrida Cobb 500 i Hubbard Classic gajenih u tovu tokom sedam nedelja. Pilići, oba hibrida su bili podeljeni u dve grupe (160 pilića po grupi) i hranjeni sa dve smeše istog sastava, koje su se razlikovale u nivou sirovih proteina. Sadržaj sirovih proteina u smešama 1, je iznosio 23 % (u uzrastu 1.2 nedelje), 22 % (3. nedelje), 21 % (4-6 nedelje), 18 % (7. nedelje). Sadržaj sirovih proteina u smešama 2 je iznossio 22 % (1-2 nedelje), 21 % (3. nedelje), 20 % (4-6 nedelje), 17 % (7. nedelje). Dobijeni rezultati su pokazali dasu uzrast, pol i nasledna osnova faktori od većeg uticaja na geometrijske i mehaničke osobine golenjače brojlerskih pilića od nivoa sirovih priteina u oborku..Golenjače muških pilića imale su veću površinu poprečnog preseka korteksa i silu loma a manju površinu poprečnog preseka medularne šupljine u odnosu na golenjače ženskih pilića. Pilići hibrida Hubbard Classic, su imali veće vrednosti poprečnog preseka korteksa i sile loma a manje vrednosti poprečnog preseka.

The effect of oviposition and time of marble addition to feed on quality of table eggs

AB  - Investigation of the effect of oviposition and time of addition of marble was carried out on 360 Shaver layer hens divided into three groups. During six week trial (from age of 72 to 78 weeks) hens were fed standard diet according to recommendations for Shaver genotype where main source of Calcium was limestone. First group of hens was control and they were fed standard mixture, second group of hens received additionally each morning 2g of ground marble distributed over the feed, and third group of hens received 2 g of ground marble twice a day - Ig in the morning (8 a.m) and Ig in the afternoon (1 p.m). At the end of each week period quality of fresh laid eggs was investigated. Following egg quality characteristics were measured: egg mass (g), shell mass (g), shell thickness (μ
m), shell deformation (μm), shell breaking force (kg) and Haugh units were calculated. Obtained results have shown that oviposition had no significant effect on investigated traits. Addition of large particles of marble had positive effect on strength of egg shell. Compared to control group, morning addition of 2g of marble per hen or addition of 1g in the morning and 1g in the afternoon caused statistically highly significant increase of egg shell strength expressed through greater breaking force and lower value of shell deformation as well as higher values of shell mass and thickness. Compared to control and trial group I, quality of egg white expressed through Haugh units was significantly lower in trial group III.
AB  - Ispitivanje uticaja ovipozicije i vremena dodavanja mermera obavljeno je na 360 Shaver nosilja podeljenih u tri grupe. U toku šestonedeljnog oglednog perioda (od 72. do 78. nedelje uzrasta) kokoši su dobijale standardnu smešu prema preporukama za Shaver genotip u kojoj je osnovni izvor kalcijuma bila stočna kreda. Prva grupa kokoši nosilja bila je kontrolna i hranjene su sa osnovnom smešom, druga grupa dobijala je dodatno svakog dana ujutro po 2g krupno mlevenog mermera posipanjem po hrani, a treća grupa kokoši nosilja dobijala je 2g krupno mlevenog mermera podeljeno na dva dela i to Ig ujutro (8,00 sati) i Ig popodne (13,00 sati). Na kraju svakog nedeljnog perioda ispitivan je kvalitet svih snešenih jaja. Od osobina kvaliteta jaja mereni su: masa jaja (g), masa ljuske (g), debljina ljuske (μm), deformacija ljuske (μm), sila loma ljuske (kg) i izračunavane su Haugh jedinice. Dobijeni rezultati su pokazali da ovipozicija nije značajno uticala na ispitivane osobine. Dodavanje mermera krupnijih čestica imalo je pozitivan uticaj na čvrstoću ljuske jaja. U odnosu na kontrolnu grupu, jutarnje dodavanje 2 g mermera po nosilji ili dodavanje 1g mermera ujutro i 1g mermera popodne dovodi do statistički visoko značajnog povećanja čvrstoće ljuske, izraženog kroz veću silu loma i manju vrednost deformacije ljuske i veću vrednost mase i debljine ljuske. U odnosu na kontrolnu grupu i oglednu I, kvalitet belanca izražen Haugh-ovim jedinicama značajno je bio lošiji u oglednoj grupi III.

Eggshell strength

AB  - Eggshell quality was studied in two groups of Shaver hens (300 hens per group) 30 weeks of age. All hens received a basic diet of the same composition with pulverized limestone as a source of calcium. The experimental group received 2 g of granular limestone (particle size 1.1-1.4 mm) per hen per day during one week, adding on the concentrate in the afternoon. Significantly lower deformation (19 m), higher breaking force (4,1 kg) and shell thickness (39, 3 x 0.01 mm) were registered for eggs of experimental group of hens than for eggs of control group (24 m; 3.3 kg 36.5 x 0.01 mm, respectively). The results obtained in our investigation showed possibilities of eggshell strength improvement using 2 g of larger particle size of limestone as additional source of calcium.
AB  - Kokoši nosilje, uzrasta 30 nedelja su tokom sedam dana ogleda, pored kompletne smeše za ishranu, dobijale dodatno 2 g krupno mlevenog mermera, po nosilji na dan, posipanjem po hrani u toku popodnevnog perioda. Ovaj postupak je pokazao statistički značajan uticaj na poboljšanje čvrstoće ljuske. Dodatnom ishranom sa 2 g mermera po nosilji na dan ostvarena je statistički značajno manja vrednost deformacije ljuske uz istovremeno statistički značajno veće vrednosti sile loma i debljine ljuske u odnosu na kontrolnu grupu nosilja, koje nisu dobijale dodatne količine mermera.

AB  - Eggshell quality was studied in a total of 108 Hissex hens from 58 to 62 weeks of age. All hens received a basal diet of the same composition. The differences between the three equal groups were in the replacement percent of fine pulverised limestone by granular limestone, of larger particle size. The first group (control) received the basal diet with only pulverised limestone as a calcium supplement. In the diet of the second group, 60 % of the pulverised limestone was replaced with granular limestone and in the third group percent 80 %. Significantly higher breaking force (3.6 kg) shell mass (8.2 g), shell thickness (36 x 0.01 mm) and lower deformation (20.4 m) were found for eggs from the third group of hens than for eggs from the first group (3.4 kg; 8.0 g; 35 x 0.01 mm; 21.4 m; respectively). Also these eggshell characteristics were more favourable in the second group than in the first group, but the difference was significant (p (lt) 0.05) only for breaking force (3.5 kg versus 3.4 kg). The results obtained in our investigation showed some possibilities of eggshell quality improvement using limestone of larger particle size as a Ca supplemente in the hen diet. Replacing 60-80 % of pulverised limestone by larger particle size limestone had positive effects on eggshell quality.
AB  - Ispitivanja su obavljena na 108 Hissex nosilja u uzrastu od 58 do 62 nedelje, podeljenih u tri grupe. Sve grupe su za ishranu dobijale smeše istog sastava a razlike su bile samo u procentu zamene krede, u obroku, sa mermerom krupnijih čestica. Grupa 1. (kontrola) je dobijala smešu u koji je osnovni izvor kalcijuma bila stočna kreda. U obroku grupe 2, 60% krede je bilo zamenjeno sa mermerom krupnijih čestica, dok je u obroku grupe 3 taj procenat zamene iznosio 80 %. Jaja su sakupljana po nedeljnim intervalima u cilju određivanja osobina kvaliteta ljuske. Ustanovljeno je da je najbolje rezultate dala ishrana nosilja grupe 3. Zamena 80 % krede sa mermerom krupnijih čestica, doprinela je statistički značajnom poboljšanju kvaliteta ljuske u odnosu na grupu 1. Na jajima nosilja grupe 3, ustanovljena je sila loma ljuske od 3,6 kg, deformacija ljuske 20,4 µm, masa ljuske od 8,2 g i debljina ljuske od 36 x 0,01 mm. Vrednosti ovih osobina na jajima nosilja gupe 1 su iznosile: 3,4 kg, 21,4 µ, 8,0 g i 35 x 0,01mm. Efekat poboljšanja kvaliteta ljuske jaja ispoljen je i kod nosilja grupe 2, ali je statistička značajnost ustanovljena samo za vrednost sile loma ljuske (3,5 kg).

Effects of hens feeding on eggshell properties and their interrelationship

AB  - Eggshell quality was studied in three groups of Issa brown hens, of 73 to 78 weeks of age. The group 1 received a basal diet with 3.8 % of Ca and 0.35% of available P, in which pulverised limestone (particle size 0,02 mm) was the main source of Ca. The other two groups of hens were fed the diet of the same composition, but differing in the particle size of supplemented limestone. In the groups 2 and 3, 60% of the pulverised limestone was substituted with a granular form, particle size 1.10-1.40 mm, i.e. 1.42-2.80 mm, respectively. Eggs for examination were collected every day, at three periods of time: 7-9 a.m., 11 a.m. - 1 p.m. and 3-5 p.m. There were significant effects of particle size and oviposition time on eggshell quality. Egg mass and shell deformation decreased, while shell breaking force, thickness and mass increased with the increased oviposition time. At the afternoon period of laying, significantly higher (p  (lt)  0.05) breaking force (5.0 kg) and lower shell deformation (21.9 µ) were obtained in eggs of hens fed the diet incorporated with the granular form of limestone (particle size 1.10-1.40 mm) than eggs of hens fed only pulverised limestone. Correlations between shell deformation and breaking force were high and negative. Correlations between these two parameters and shell thickness were medium weak.
AB  - Kvalitet ljuske jaja je ispitivan kod tri grupe nosilja u periodu između 73 i 78 nedelje uzrasta. Grupe su hranjene smešom istog hemijskog sastava, ali su se razlikovale u veličini čestica izvora kalcijuma. Prva grupa je kao izvor kalcijuma u smeši dobijala sitno mleveni krečnjak - kredu, veličine čestica  (lt) 0,02 mm. Kod druge grupe je 60 % krede bilo zamenjeno granuliranim mermerom, veličine čestica između 1,1 i 1,4 mm, dok je kod treće grupe 60 % krede bilo zamenjeno granuliranim mermerom, veličine čestica između 1,42 i 2,80 mm. Jaja za analizu su sakupljana svakodnevno a praćene su sledeće osobine: masa jaja, deformacija, sila loma, masa i debljina ljuske. Ustanovljeno je da jaja snešena popodne, druga grupa nosilja, imaju značajno veću (p (lt)  0,05) silu loma ljuske (5,0 kg) i manju deformaciju (21,9 µ) u odnosu na jaja nosilja ostale dve grupe. Korelacionom analizom je kod svih grupa nosilja, ustanovljeno postojanje srednje jake povezanosti (r = - 0,57 do - 0,63) sa negativnim predznakom između sile loma ljuske i deformacije. Međusobni odnosi ostalih osobina su se kretali u granicama slabe korelacije.

It was shown that there are possibilities for improving eggshell quality, in older hens, by a combination of pulverized and granular limestone in the diet, as a source of calcium.
AB  - Ispitivanje je obavljeno na 90 nosilja Issa Brown, u uzrastu od 73-78 nedelja, podeljenih u tri grupe. Sve grupe su za ishranu dobijale smeše istog sastava, u kojima je glavni izvor kalcijuma bio mleveni mermer. Razlike između grupa su bile u veličini čestica mermera dodatog u hranu. Grupa 1, (kontrola), je dobijala smešu sa praškasto mlevenim mermerom (kreda), veličine čestica 0,02 mm. U smeši za grupu 2 oko 60 % mermera je bilo sa krupnijim česticama (1,10-1,40 mm), a 40 % u obliku krede. U smeši za grupu 3 oko 60 % mermera je bilo sa još krupnijim česticama (1,42-2,80 mm), a 40 % u obliku krede. Za ispitivanje kvaliteta ljuske jaja su sakupljana svakodnevno u tri vremenska intervala (vreme ovipozicije): 7-9 sati, 11-13 sati i 15-17 sati. Ustanovljeno je da sa vremenom ovipozicije opada masa jaja i deformacija ljuske, dok se vrednosti sile loma, debljine i mase ljuske povećavaju. Veličina čestica mermera dodatog u hranu, ispoljila je značajan uticaj na kvalitet ljuske jaja, izražen kroz deformaciju i silu loma. Jaja nosilja iz 2. i 3. grupe (krupnije čestice mermera), snesena popodne, imala su značajno (p (lt) 0,05) manje vrednosti deformacije (21,9 μ; 19,9 μ) i veće vrednosti sile loma ljuske (5,0 kg; 4,6 kg) u odnosu na jaja nosilja iz 1. grupe. U toku prepodnevnog perioda nošenja, jaja nosilja 1. i2. grupe su ispoljila veću silu loma u odnosu na jaja nosilja 3. grupe. Generalno, može se zaključiti da je 2. grupa nosilja (veličina čestica mermera 1,10-1,40 mm) pokazala najbolje rezultate i da je moguće poboljšati čvrstoću ljuske jaja, kod starijih nosilja, dodatkom u hranu izvesne količine mermera krupnijih čestica.
