organskog) i genotipa kokoši nosilja (Isa Brown hibrid i New Hampshire rasa) na
definistati.
AB - The aim of this study was to determine the effect of the rearing system (floor
and organic) and the genotype of laying hens (Isa Brown hybrid and New
Hampshire breed) on the cholesterol content in eggs. On seven occasions during
the one-year production cycle (24, 32, 40, 48, 56, 64 and 72 weeks hen's age), 15
eggs from all four experimental groups were taken, and cholesterol content was
determined on pooled samples. Based on the obtained results, it can be concluded
that laying hens from the floor rearing system had lower cholesterol content in
eggs compared to organic, while the effect of genotype on this trait cannot be
defined with certainty.

AB - The aim of this study was to evaluate the effect of rearing systems
and genotypes on production performance and egg quality. Isa Brown
and New Hampshire genotypes were used in this study. These two
genotypes were housed in floor and organic rearing systems. During the
experimental period, which lasted one year (52 weeks), the following
production performance parameters were recorded: egg production,
daily egg mass, feed consumption, feed conversion efficiency, and
mortality. Fifteen eggs per group were collected for analysis at 64 weeks
of hen age. These samples were evaluated for external parameters
(egg weight and egg shape index), internal parameters (albumen
height, Haugh unit, and the proportions of albumen, yolk and shell),
eggshell quality parameters (shell thickness, shell deformation and
shell breaking strength), and eggs’ chemical composition (dry matter,
minerals, protein and lipids). Generally, Isa Brown hens had better
production performance than New Hampshire hens. At the same time,
organic New Hampshire layers performed better than floor-reared ones.
Genotype had a significant effect on all ten egg quality parameters
(external, internal and eggshell quality), rearing system independently
affected only egg weight, and the interaction of the observed factors
significantly influenced seven parameters. Genotype had a significant
effect on three of the four chemical composition parameters, while no
significant effect of the rearing system was established on the chemical
composition of eggs. The rearing system x genotype interaction
significantly affected the eggs’ protein content.

AB - The aim of this study was to compare the effect of two alternative rearing systems (floor and organic) on egg quality traits of New Hampshire laying hens in three different phases of the productive cycle (32, 48 and 72 weeks of age). Egg samples (15 eggs per group) were analysed for quality (egg weight, egg shape index, albumen height, Haugh unit, yolk colour) and chemical composition (dry matter, minerals, proteins and lipids). Egg weight, dry matter and protein content increased, while albumen height, Haugh unit and lipid content decreased with hen age (p≤0.05). Eggs from the floor rearing system had a higher shape index and lipid content compared to organic eggs (p≤0.05). Both factors and their interactions had a significant effect on yolk colour (p≤0.05).

AB - The aim of this study was to evaluate the effect of rearing system, genotype and hens age on egg weight and eggs components share. The tested rearing systems were the floor and organic, and tested genotypes were Isa Brown hybrid and New Hampshire breed. Eggs were collected for analyses three times in production cycle (32 weeks hens age, 48 weeks hens age, and 72 weeks hens age). In these samples (fifteen eggs per group, eggs were one day old) were investigated: egg weight, albumen share, yolk share and shell share. Egg weight was increased with hens age. Also, the interaction between the genotype and hens age was found, so the New Hampshire eggs in 32 weeks had less weight then Isa Brown eggs (p≤0.05), while in the 48 and 72 weeks this difference was lost (p≥0.05). The share of egg albumen and yolk was significantly affected by the rearing system, genotype and hens age (p≤0.05). Floor produced eggs had a lower proportion of albumen and a higher proportion of yolk compared to organic eggs. New Hampshire eggs had a higher content of yolk and the smaller content of albumen compared to Isa Brown eggs (p≤0.05). With hens age, the share of yolk was increased and albumen share was decreased. Interaction of all three studied factors - rearing system x genotype x hens age had the most important effect on the shell share.
Ispitivani sistemi gajenja su bili podni i organski, a ispitivani genotipovi Isa Brown hibrid i New Hampshire rasa. Interakcija sva tri ispitivana faktora - sistema gajenja, genotipa i starosti nosilja je imala najznačajniji uticaj na udeo ljuske jaja.

AB - The aim of this paper was to estimate the effect of rearing systems (floor and organic) on the chemical composition of meat of laying hens. The tested genotypes were Isa Brown hybrid and dual purpose breed New Hampshire. Based on the results of this research can be concluded that the rearing system, generally, did not caused statistically significant differences in any of the parameters examined chemical composition of meat. On the other hand, the breast meat - white meat and thigh and drumstick - dark meat of New Hampshire genotype had significantly higher fat content compared to the Isa Brown hybrid. It must be noted that in the breast meat reported significant interaction genotype x rearing system. The other parameters of the chemical composition of meat were not significantly different between reared genotypes.
Ispitivani genotipovi su bili linijski hibrid Isa Brown i rasa kombinovanih proizvodnih sposobnosti New Hampshire.

abstract = "The aim of this paper was to estimate the effect of rearing systems (floor and organic) on the chemical composition of meat of laying hens. The other parameters of the chemical composition of meat were not significantly different between reared genotypes., Cilj ovog rada je bio da se ispita uticaj sistema gajenja na hemijski sastav mesa kokoši nosilja iz alternativnih sistema gajenja: podnog i organskog. Ispitivani genotipovi su bili linijski hibrid Isa Brown i rasa kombinovanih proizvodnih sposobnosti New Hampshire. AB - The effect of systematic and continuous environmental factors on milk performance traits over standard lactations in 2805 Simmental cows was evaluated using the general linear model. The systematic factors included the effect of farm or breeding area, calving season, year of birth, season of birth, lactation group and their interactions. The continuous factor analysed was the effect of age at first conception. The effect of farm, lactation group and calving season on standard lactation milk performance was found to be highly significant (P (lt) 0.01), excepting the effect of calving season on milk fat percent in standard lactations which showed statistical significance (P (lt) 0.05). The interactions between year and season of birth, farm and calving season, and farm and lactation group had a highly significant effect (P (lt) 0.01) on all performance traits studied. Age at first conception, as a continuous factor, had a highly significant effect (P (lt) 0.01) on milk yield and milk fat percent, and a non-significant effect on milk fat yield. The model used to correct the performance traits over standard lactations for the effect of systematic factors was highly significant (P (lt) 0.01). The variance of the model accounted for 20.06 and 37.31% of the total variance of milk fat yield and milk fat percent, respectively. The resulting coefficients of determination (R-2) ranged from 0.20 for milk fat yield to 0.37 for milk fat percent.

AB - Alternative laying hen rearing systems have been rapidly introduced into poultry production in an effort to harmonise poultry health and welfare with consumer, producer, industry and environmental demands. They are an integral part of modern egg production. Husbandry systems for keeping laying hens have an impact on, inter alia, the chemical composition of eggs. The subject matter of this study is a comparative review of the results obtained by different authors on the effect of rearing system on chemical composition ( proteins, lipids, cholesterol, vitamins and fatty acids content) and hygienic conditions of eggs from different rearing systems of laying hens. Eggs from these laying hen rearing systems have been proven by a large body of literature data to have better nutritional properties. Moreover, the results analysed also indicate differences within rearing systems. Rearing systems also have an influence on hygienic and microbiological quality of eggs. In view of the above, this comparable overview of the literature on the use of different rearing systems in table egg production can serve as a tool in determining the future direction of research as well as an indicator of its practical application.

AB - Laying hen rearing systems have been the focus of scientific research for many years. Over the last few decades, new laying hen rearing systems have been rapidly introduced in an effort to harmonise poultry health and welfare with consumer, producer, industry and environmental demands. Given the above situation, the subject matter of this paper was a comparative review of the results obtained by different authors on the effect of rearing system on productive traits (egg production and mortality) and egg quality characteristics (egg weight, proportions of main egg parts, Haugh units, yolk colour and carotenoids) in laying hens. Although productive performance in alternative systems is often lower compared to conventional, intensive layers, eggs from alternative systems have been proven in numerous studies to have better nutritional properties. Moreover, research results indicate differences within rearing systems. In view of this, this overview of the literature on the use of different rearing systems in table egg production can serve as a tool in determining the future direction of research as well as an indicator of its practical application.

AB - The work is the presentation of performance data and phenotypes of milk traits of Simmental cows in Serbia. The analysis of quantitative phenotypic parameters was carried out in four breeding areas and on dozen of large and small farms housing and rearing 1370 cows – first calving heifers. The obtained data were analysed using the method of Least Squares and analysis results were obtained by applying mathematical-statistical data analysis using mixed models. Mathematical - statistical analysis of data was performed using linear methods with fixed effects, using the method of Least Squares (LS method).
Based on these results, it was established that the breeding area, statistically analysed, caused highly significant deviations (P <0.01) of production traits from the general population average. Calving season has influenced significantly (P<0.05), and the interaction of area and calving season has produced a highly significant variation in milk yield, milk fat and protein (P <0.01).

AB - The work includes the review of production results, i.e. milk performance phenotypes of Black and White Holstein cows in Central Serbia. The analysis of quantitative phenotypic parameters was carried out in five regions (breeding regions) on several large and small farms which housed 1090 cows - first calving heifers.
Using the method of Least Squares - the fixed model, highly significant deviation of milk yield, milk fat from the average (P < 0.01) was established. Cows reared in the region 4 in the first lactation produced 503 kg less milk compared to the general average and 852 kg less milk than those reared in the region 3. Birth year caused statistically significant differences in milk yield and milk fat yield (P < 0.05), except % of milk protein where no significant variations (P> 0.05) were determined. Season in which the cows had calved caused a highly significant deviation of milk yield (P < 0.01) and significant deviations of yields of milk fat and protein (P < 0,05).

AB - Fifteen early-lactation cows and 15 mid-lactation cows were chosen for the analysis. Blood samples were collected to measure the beta-hydroxybutyrate (BHB), non-esterified fatty acids (NEFA), triglycerides (TG), glucose (Glu), total protein (TP), albumin (ALB), total bilirubin (TB), urea (U) and the activity of aspartate transaminase (AST) and gamma-glutamyl transferase (GGT). Earlyl-actation cows showed significantly higher (P (lt) 0.05) values of serum BHB and NEFA, and lower of (P (lt) 0.05) glycemia levels compared to mid-lactation cows. High lipomobilization (NEFA >0.4 mmol/l) and subclinical ketosis (BHB >1.2 mmol/L) were detected in 6 (40%) and 14 (94.4%) early-lactation cows, respectively, and in none of the mid lactation cows. AST activities above 100 IU/1 were detected in two early-lactation and none of the mid-lactation cows. TG concentrations below 0.12 mmol/l were found in 7 (44%) early-lactation and 2 (13.3%) mid-lactation cows. Glucose levels were below 2.5 mmol/l in 10 (66.6%) early-lactation and 5 (33.3%) mid-lactation cows. Early-lactation cows showed lower blood serum concentrations of TG (P>0.05), ALB (P>0.05), TP (P (lt) 0.05), U (P>0.05) and GTT (P>0.05) activities and higher concentrations of TB (P>0.05) and AST activities (P (lt) 0.05), as compared to mid-lactation cows. These metabolic characteristics were correlated with DMI and energy balance (EB). Blood serum values for glucose, TG, BHB, NEFA and AST showed that early-lactation cows suffered from metabolic disturbances, associated with ketosis, and some degree of hepatic lesions, probably due to fat infiltration. These serum parameters may have a key role in evaluating the metabolic status of dairy cows.

AB - In order to have a more precise description of dairy farm structure and characteristics of dairy production systems, as well as to assess possibilities for improving production and farming conditions in which milk production is organized, a survey based research was directed at a select group of farms across the Serbia. 1180 questionnaires have been mailed to farmers whose farms are registered for either cattle or mixed production. Questionnaire was divided into 6 sections: general information of the farm, agricultural and structural information, zootechnical information, sanitary and veterinarian information, information about education and extension, and information on the perspectives of future farming. About 59% of analyzed farms have size up to 20 ha, with average size of about 10 ha. On the other hand, about 55% farms raises up to 15 cows and heifers with average of 6 heads per farm, while 3% of farms have more than 200 cows and heifers. Over 86% of surveyed farmers intend to expand existing farm production, mainly by increasing the number of animals, stricter selection and improvement of the conditions for feeding, housing, care and milking. About 75% of farmers have expressed a positive expectation from future membership of Serbia in EU, although these expectations are not clearly defined.

AB - The effect of interaction between the farm and calving season, as well as the farm and group of lactations on milk performance traits (milk yield, yield of milk fat, 4% fat corrected milk and milk fat content) was analyzed on sample of 2805 Simmental cows with total 9718 standard lactations, housed on dairy farm 'Zlatiborski suvati' on Zlatibor (578 cows and 1968 lactations), dairy farm of the Agricultural holding Dobričevo in Ćuprija (964 cows and 3237 lactations) and dairy animals housed on family farms/households in the region of Kotraža (1263 cows and 4513 lactations). The significance of the effect of interaction between the farm and calving season, as well as interaction between the farm and group of lactations on all milk performance traits was very high (P (lt) 0.001), which justified their inclusion into models for assessment of the breeding value of dairy cows. The share of variance of interactions in total variance of milk performance traits in standard lactations was low (below and around 4%), which clearly indicated even more systematic factors and their interactions which influence the total variability of observed traits of milk performance of cows in standard lactations.

AB - In this study a relationship between the milk yield and following reproduction traits: number of inseminations per conception [AIS], service period [SP], age at calving [AC], calving interval [CI] and birth weight [BW] is studied. The research involved dairy cows of European type of Black and White cattle which are being intensively improved by the genes of Holstein - Friesian breed. Mean values of general average for number of inseminations per conception, service period, age at calving, calving interval and birth weight are: 2.00; 98.78; 1088.08; 376.70 and 36.40, respectively. In general, the estimated phenotypic correlations (rp) between the milk yield over standard lactations and fertility traits were positive and unfavorable, and ranged from 0.24 for the relationship between milk yield and birth weight to 0.70 for relationship between milk yield and age at calving.

AB - The relationship between milk production traits over whole lactations was evaluated across three generations of Simmental cows, i.e. between daughters, dams and grand dams, by a phenotypic regression analysis with whole lactation traits in the daughter generation being used as the dependent variables (x1), and those in the dam and grand dam generations being used as the independent variables (x2 and x3). The results were obtained from a sample of 1170 daughters and as many dams and grand dams. The significance of the partial regression coefficients b2 and b3 was separately evaluated by a t-test. An analysis of variance was used to estimate the significance of the simultaneous effect of the production traits of dams and grand dams on the milk production achieved in the daughter generation. The calculated value of the partial regression coefficients for the whole lactation production traits across three generations (grand dams, dams and daughters) and their statistical significances determined by the t and F tests, as well as the regression equations used, suggested that the effect of the grand dam generation on the milk production traits in granddaughters was substantially lower than the effect of dams. The calculated partial regression coefficients (b2 and b3) were positive and statistically very significant (P (lt) 0.01), excepting the regression coefficients b3 for lactation length and b2 for milk fat content that were not statistically significant (P>0.05). A very significant change (P (lt) 0.01) was observed in all production traits in the daughter generation as simultaneously affected by the traits in the dam and grand dam generations.

AB - Results of the effect of direct and indirect selection of quantitative traits of fertility and milk performance of first calving cows of Simmental breed in Serbia are presented. Investigation of genetic parameters of heritability (additive genetic variance in total phenotypic variability of quantitative traits) and analysis of milk traits was done in four breeding regions and several tenths of farms where 3980 daughters of 32 sires were housed and reared. Results of analysis were obtained by application of mathematical-statistical data analysis, using mixed models (Harvey, 1990). Mathematical-statistical analysis of data was done using linear methods, i.e. method of least squares (LS method). Based on obtained results it was established that bulls-sires and several paragenetic factors caused no significant variation of fertility traits in relation to general average (P (lt) 0.01). Quantitative milk traits of first calving cows, under the influence of breeding region, had significantly higher deviation from the general average (**P (lt) 0.01). Significant deviations (*P (lt) 0.05) were caused by year of calving on milk yield and yield of milk fat (4765.0 kg and milk fat 3.86%). Established heritability coefficients for reproductive traits were following: .102, .051 and .088, and milk traits .297, .207 and .197).
Naslednost, odnosno proučavanje aditivne genetske varijanse u ukupnoj fenotipskoj varijabilnosti kvantitativnih osobina, predstavlja deo najvažjnijih istraživanja sa gledišta stvaranja populacije goveda visokih genetskih potencijala i odabiranja roditeljskih parova budućih generacija. Godišnje doba početka laktacije krava obuhvaćenih našim istraživanjem pokazuje značajna odstupanja prinosa mleka i mlečne masti u odnosu na opšti prosek (P (lt) 0.01).

AB - The effect of systematic factors on production traits over complete lactations was investigated in 2,805 Simmental cows born in 1982 and onwards. The cows were housed at three farms in different areas: at the Zlatiborski Suvati dairy farm, Zlatibor, at the Dobricevo Agricultural Farm, Cuprija and at private farms in the region of Kotraze. The systematic factors (farm, calving season, lactation groups, group (year x season of birth), farm x calving season and farm x lactation group interactions) and age at first conception had statistically highly significant (P (lt) 0.001) effects on all complete lactation traits, with the exception of the effect of calving season on complete lactation duration (P (lt) 0.05) and milk-fat content (P>0.05). No statistically significant effect was produced by age at first conception on complete lactation duration and milk-fat content (P>0.05). Determination coefficients ranged from 0.100 in complete lactation duration to 0.361 in milk-fat content.

abstract = "The effect of systematic factors on production traits over complete lactations was investigated in 2,805 Simmental cows born in 1982 and onwards. AB - Results of the effect of direct and indirect selection on quantitative properties of milk production of first calving Simmental cows in Serbia, are presented in the paper. Analysis of quantitative phenotypic parameters was carried out in four breeding regions and certain number of smaller farms where 1319 daughters of 13 bull sires were reared. Results of the analysis were obtained by application of mathematical-statistical data analysis, using mixed models (Harvey, 1990). Mathematical-statistical analysis of data was carried out using linear methods with fixed effect, through method of least squares (LS method), and for evaluation of bull breeding value mixed model of random bull sire effect was used (BLUP method). Based on obtained results it was established that analyzed breeding region has statistically highly significantly (**P (lt) 0.01.) caused deviations of production phenotypes from general average. Season and year of calving (*P (lt) 0.05.) have caused significant variations of production properties. .
AB - U radu su prikazani rezultati efekata direktne i indirektne selekcije kvantitativnih svojstava mlečnosti krava-prvotelki simentalske rase goveda u Srbiji. Analiza kvanitativnih fenotipskih parametara je obavljena u četiri odgajivačka područja i na više desetina manjih farmi na kojima je držano i gajeno 1319 kćeri, 13 bikova-očeva. Rezultati analize su dobijeni primenom matematičko-statističke analize podataka, korišćenjem mešovitih modela (Harvey, 1990). Matematičko-statistička analiza podataka je obavljena korišćenjem linearnih metoda sa fiksnim uticajem, preko metoda najmanjih kvadrata (LS metod) a za ocenu priplodne vrednosti bikova korišćen je mešoviti model slučajnog uticaja oca (BLUP metod).Na osnovu dobijenih rezultata ustanovljeno je da je odgajivačko područje statistički analizirano visoko značajno (**P (lt) 0.01.) prouzrokovalo odstupanja proizvodnih fenotipova od opšteg proseka. Sezona telenja i godina (*P (lt) 0.05.) su prouzrokovali značajna variranja proizvodnih osobina. Rezultati odstupanja osobina proizvodnosti pod uticajem godine telenja ukazuju na pozitivne tendencije u povećanju prinosa mleka . Značajna odstupanja (P (lt) 0.05) je izazvala godina telenja i na prinos mleka i mlečne masti. Godišnje doba početka laktacije krava obuhvaćenih našim istraživanjem pokazuje visokoznačajna odstupanja prinosa mleka i mlečne masti u odnosu na opšti prosek (P (lt) 0.01). (1997 i 2006). (2005) i Pantelić i sar.(2008).

AB - The examination was made on the effect of systematic factors (parturition group, calving season, birth type, calf gender, and birth type-calf gender interaction) and age at first conception on the expression of reproductive traits (gestation length, service period, fertility intensity and calf birth weight) in 143 Simmental cows. The overall mean (μ) for gestation length, service period, intercalving period and calf birth weight was 284.14 days, 153.82 days, 416.92 days and 35.40 kg, respectively. The parturition group effect on all fertility traits was highly significant (P (lt) 0.01). The calving season statistically significantly (P (lt) 0.05) affected the intercalving period and calf birth weight. Birth type induced very significantly longer gestation (P (lt) 0.01) and higher calf birth weight in singles (P (lt) 0.01) and significantly longer service period in twins (P (lt) 0.05). Calf gender had a very significant effect (P (lt) 0.01) only on calf birth weight, and the interaction between birth type and calf gender significantly affected gestation duration only (P (lt) 0.05). The regression effect of age at first conception on all fertility traits was not significant (P>0.05).

AB - This paper is based on investigation of chemical and hygiene parameters of the quality of cow raw milk. Samples were collected on 10 collection spots of the dairy firm "Imlek", in 4 identical time intervals in the period of one month (20.06.2005.-20.07.2005.) in municipality of Gornji Milanovac, and research was carried out in the laboratory of "Imlek" in Čačak. Differences in chemical composition and hygienic quality of milk were analyzed, and slight variability was established between collection spots. Average content of milk fat was 3,89%, protein 3,20%, and dry matter without fat 8,56%. It was established that in regard to protein content there is significant and very significant statistical difference between collection spots. This is consequence of different nutrition, focus is on introduction of protein enriched feeds into nutrition of cows. High variability of number of micro organisms is consequence of inadequate, non-standardized obtaining (milking) and storing of raw milk. Average number of micro-organisms was 844.875/ml, and it varied from 112.000–5.000.000/ml. Average somatic cell count was 357.850/ml. Variance analysis determined that collection spots had statistically highly significant effect (P (lt) 0.01) only on protein content, whereas their influence on content of fat, dry matter without fat, number of microorganisms and somatic cell count wasn't significant (P>0.05). Individual testing (LSD test) established that milk collected from 7th collection spot had significantly higher protein content compared to other collection spots, which indicated that dairy heads of cattle consumed higher quantity of feeds rich on proteins and had better balanced diet in regard to ratio of energy and protein.

abstract = "This paper is based on investigation of chemical and hygiene parameters of the quality of cow raw milk. Individual testing (LSD test) established that milk collected from 7th collection spot had significantly higher protein content compared to other collection spots, which indicated that dairy heads of cattle consumed higher quantity of feeds rich on proteins and had better balanced diet in regard to ratio of energy and protein., Rad je zasnovan na ispitivanju hemijskih i higijenskih parametara kvaliteta sirovog mleka.
