AB - This paper describes escalation of sudden drop in semen quality in two boars' farm centers
affected by high mycotoxin level in forage (primarily by deoxynivalenol-DON). Barley and
wheat harvested in 2019 was generally indicated as most risky grains for animal health and
production and main source of DON. DON dominantly affected sperm total and progressive
motility (agglutination and astenospermia) as well as sperm chromatin structure, while acrosome
status and semen morphology were less sensitive to these changes. Bacterial control indicated
increase of bacterial presence. After forage replacement a period of 1-2 months is essential for
recovery of semen production, supported with prolonged vitamins and antibiotic treatment.
Routine control of forage for high producing animals is essential. Sperm production is
affected with DON level when is even below recommended standards for sows feed (cumulative
effect), and no clinical signs may appear. Commercial mycotoxin absorbers are not efficient for
such production.

AB - Fish, as the top of the trophic pyramid of aquatic ecosystems, are one of the most sensitive
bioindicators for the presence of heavy metals in the aquatic ecosystems that inhabit them.
Concentrations of cadmium (Cd), lead (Pb), mercury (Hg) and zinc (Zn) were determined in
the muscle tissue and liver of selected fish species from the Zapadna Morava River during
2013 and 2018, respectively. The aim of this paper was to obtain a more complete insight into
the level of accumulation of heavy metals in the organism of fish, especially fish meat as an
edible part that should satisfy the health safety for human consumption. Investigations of the
concentration of the presence of heavy metals from Carassius auratus, Abramis brama and
Squalius cephalus have revealed various bioaccumulation of heavy metals. Among the
examined fish, the highest accumulation of heavy metals was found in Abramis brama,
Carassius auratus and Squalius cephalus, respectively. In all fish for all four investigated
heavy metals, higher concentrations were detected in the liver and less in fish muscle.
Bioaccumulation of heavy metals had the following trend: Zn > Pb > Cd > Hg.The
determined concentrations of the analyzed heavy metals in fish muscle were not within the
permitted limits of the MAC national legislation of the Republic of Serbia. Meat of
investigated fish species is not health-safe and hygienically correct for use in human nutrition
(The Official Gazette Republic of Serbia No 22/2018 and No 90/2018). The content of tested
heavy metals in fish meat indicates that in this aquatic ecosystem during the five year period
there was no significant pollution with these heavy metals.

AB - The treatment of reproductive disorders is based on the use of the available antibiotics or antiseptic agents. Prolonged or inadequate antibiotic treatment contributes to the development of antimicrobial resistances, while the use of antiseptics, particularly in high concentrations, leads to endometrial lesions and prolonging of the service period. The present study included monitoring of: 1) reproductive disorders of cows; 2) cytological, morphological, and bacteriological laboratory analyses; 3) susceptibility testing of isolated bacterial and reference strains to the EDTA-Tris (ethylene diamine tetraacetic acid-hydroxymethyl aminomethane) and chlorhexidine (CHX); and 4) an estimate of the time before onset of the new sexual cycle. The aim of the research was to determine whether the combination of EDTA-Tris and CHX in concentrations that are not harmful to the endometrium may result in the satisfactory treatment of sick animals and provide optimal service periods of reproductively active animals. Research results of in vitro and in vivo analysis showed that by using the combination of EDTA-Tris and CHX bactericidal effects were achieved at lower concentrations in comparison with the concentrations that had the same effect in the absence of EDTA-Tris. The application of CHX in a concentration of 0.05% in the treatment of endometritis 10 min after infusion of EDTA-Tris solution had a positive effect on both the involution of the uterus and acutization of chronic inflammatory processes, and it was also economically advantageous when compared to the cost of treatment and the possible presence of residues in the products.

AB - The effect of organic selenium as feed additive contained in the feed was investigated, applied in concentrations of 0.3 and 0.4 mg Se/kg mixture on production characteristics pheasant. The study was conducted on a total of 45 common pheasant individuals Phasianus colchicus, six weeks old, divided into three equal groups of 15 individuals for 60 days. The control pheasants group was fed with a standard mixture without addition of selenium during the experiment, while the mixture of group I contained 0.15 g/kg and pheasants group II had 0.20 g/kg additives with organic selenium. The results showed that different amounts of organic selenium presence in pheasants' feed had a positive effect on analyzed productivity indicators of pheasants' growth rate, both their final body weight and weight gain (p (lt) 0.05). Among examined groups of pheasant, gained differences in average feed conversion and total production index were not statistically significant (p> 0.05). The best production results were achieved by individual II group, which also had the highest selenium content in muscle tissue of the pectoral muscles, drumstick and thigh (p (lt) 0.05).

AB - The effect of microbial phytase in corn/soybean meal diets for broilers on performances and tibia characteristics were investigated. The trial was carried out on 200 Arbor Acres broilers of both sexes divided into four groups. The broilers were fed with complete mixtures with different levels of P (0.80 and 0.57% total P and 0.46 and 0.25% available P), with or without phytase. Reduction of the dietary total and available P levels for experimental broilers induced lower body mass and gain as well as higher fed conversion. However, by introduction phytase into diets negative effects of phosphorus reduction were, to some extent alleviated. Addition of phytase into diets decreased serum Ca and increased serum P. Reduction of the dietary P level had no significant effect on serum Ca, but had negative effects on serum P (p (lt) 0.01). The obtained results of bone analysis show that phytase was effective in increasing investigated parameters, but no significant differences were found among groups.
